I am located on Long Island NY Thanks for your help my email is shadbelly4@aol.com Jerry
end gate glass wiper seal A 1987 Cadillac wagon? Well, if this is a B wagon - Caprice, Estate, Safari, etc. the part you are looking for is long since discontinued by GM. However, a year ago, they were still available from vintage parts. They are pricy at about $100. Go to your GM dealer - if they are as good as mine, they will be happy to order for you from vintage parts. You can also order yourself from vintage parts, but you will find the price will be the same since they will onbly sell at the retail price.
tailgate rubber Thanks boogie I asked my local dealer about this and all he could tell me was the part # and it was out of stock Who is Vintage parts and how do I contact them Did you see the pictures I posted? Jerry
old parts www.vpartsinc.com you should find a dealer with a more helpful parts department. My dealer's parts department is very helpful in getting old parts.
Tailgate rubber Thanks Boogie They are very good to me for Caddy parts Maybe they don't about this I'll bring it over to them JeRita
tailgate rubber #20225797 Boogie I went my dealer and they contacted Vintage parts The part is no longer available it is part # 20225797 do you know of any other sources? Thanks jerry
Hi. If Vintage parts is sold out, they are all gone. I have several that I bought a year or two ago. I really don't want to sell one, since I have a couple of wagons that need them. Sorry. If I find any other source, I'll be sure to let you know.
What do these things look like? Is it just rubber? Or a combo of rubber/metal where possibly the rubber could be removed and a new rubber strip of a suitable profile could be put in?
These are an assembly for a stainless steel molding, a molded and flocked rubber seal, and a pair of plastic molded glass guides on the extreme ends. The guides and rubber seal are riveted to the stainless molding. I looked for a molded (actually extruded) cross-section like the seal, but was not able to find any available.
tailgate rubber Hi thanks for the replies My dealer said he got some rubber from vintage a while ago and because it was old stock the customer only got a year or 2 before it cracked again JeRita
I wonder if enough of us requested the part of Steel Rubber, co. They wouldn't get these made for us. I almost had this done in trade for an illustration I did for them. I plan to contact the client, the grandson of the founder, to discuss the balance of what he still owes me; had I been more selfless, I might have realized how getting this part made cold help us all in the long run. My guess is they'll need a fairly intact original piece to measure and create templates for, anyone close to Denver, NC should chime in... here's some contact info...
