For anyone who wants to know. When I bought her, even though she is a loaded, top-of-the-line SEL, she was full, rental-car white and looked like an Enterprise special. I've changed that. Quite a bit.

To start with, we have 'Ford' taillights:

I have installed oversized SUV all-seasons, and painted the letters white. This thing is a beast in the snow:

And to battle the all-white, I added a gray-scale scheme. Painted the grille, rockers, and spears body color, and did the mirror caps, bumper lines and bottoms, and some pinstriping on the hood, sides and spoiler in light and dark grays:

I am happy with it so far :)

Sounds like you're having fun with it. So, you did the rockers below the doors gray, like the lower part of the front and rear bumpers? That doen't show up in these pictures. Did you do that after the pictures were taken?
Or is the very bottom part of the front and rear bumpers, that I see as a dark gray, just a shadow?

I have to say, I like it. I really like how that "bubble' looks:).

My Dad bout new, still has, doesn't drive anymore, shipped the car to Europe when he moved (04), a 99 Sable. If I remember, a 32/16 Valve(?), OHC(?)yada, yada.... I just can't remember, but the ol'Man bout it for the engine of "it's day" 1999.

The car was a missle! Back in the day we did afew road trips together with it and I drove. I wasn't sure about the styling (Mercury) but holy crap did that thing fly and the power band didn't seem to end. High speed handeling in the mountains was awesome.

I remember, Holly Crap, this is a blast!".......

The bumper bottoms are gray. The rockers were black, but I painted them white to match the car because they never came that way. It all needs redone, though, but I am waiting until I take care of the body work. The car will be getting a full respray in Cinnamon Metallic:

Glad you enjoyed the Sable. My guess is it had the 24V Duratec V6, same engine as mine. Peppy little motor (3.0) and a blast on the highways, but a PITA to work on. For a large American sedan, the handling is quite impressive, altough not so much on mine since I have the tall tires on it
