I have an idea to put the spare wheel and cover out on the tailgate in my Chevy wagon.
    It looks cool.
I would like to do that with my spare wheel which is a donuts so it will not be to big, and will allow me to use the two way gate as usual.
My question is: any one has any idea how I can do it? Is some had done it?
All the advice's will be very welcome

On 4WD SUVs, like Broncos, Blazers and Ramchargers/Prospectors, Since oversized tires and wheels will not fit on a stock spare wheel carrier, if equipped with one from the factory, as not all of them did, off-roaders will remove the stock one, then build a rear bumper carrier with the strength and dimensions to hold a 32-40" tire and wheel. If you take that idea, and downsize it for a full-sized spare, let alone a pizza cutter spare, it would be a set of reinforcements welded into the stock bumper, then a triangular frame with single hinge at the bottom, welded into the reinforcements inside the bumper end. This frame should have more than 120 degrees of rotation, simply to give clearance both when the tailgate is rotated down or when opened as a door. And the framework needs to have the hinge on the right only, otherwise, you'll have to extend the framework out past the end of the bumper to clear the tailgate if it is opened as a door. Then, one last detail, a positive lock, strong enough and snug enough to prevent the framework from rotating on its own during driving, and not rattle excessively.

That's an excellent idea peter. I was going to suggest something very similar.

As well as Honda Passport/Isuzu Rodeos and others. Take a walk through and keep your eyes and mind open. I'm sure some fab will be involved but think "can I"?

Well the question: "can I"? is a good one. Yes I can by golly!
Polyester and fiberglass will come to the rescue, using a wood mold sized for my donuts.
