Joined a couple years ago but have never posted. I really have a fondness for wagons, I own two now and am considering taking on a 57 Pontiac Safari. 1956 Nomad I'm the third owner of this 98% original Nomad. It has every option except for air conditioning, it does have electric bench seat and windows. Modifications include the 18 and 20" wheels and tires, Wilwood dual master and front disk brakes, and an aftermarket radio. I do have all the original parts if some owner wants to put it back. It has the original 265 V8, 2bbl and the cast iron powerglide auto. It still has the original exhaust and muffler on it. 1967 Sportwagon I have no idea about the history of this one. Nearly as I can tell it also has its original power train - a 340 4bbl with Super Turbine 2 speed auto. Mods are the wheels and tires, aftermarket radio and steering wheel. She runs and drives great, serves as my parts runner. Needs paint, so I don't mind going all over in it. Look forward to learning and seeing a bunch of great wagons.
Welcome! The Tri-five chevies are among my favorites. I love the Nomads. You have a couple of great looking cars there. Good luck in pursuing the Pontiac.
Wow!! I absolutely love that '56 Nomad....and I'm also a fan of Buick Sportwagons (and Vistas for that matter.)...that's a nice one, too. Do you already have the '57 Safari, or is it a deal in the works? Welcome aboard! Jack
Thanks for the warm welcome, everyone. Jack, the Safari is in the works. May get to finally see it tomorrow, I'll take a pic and see what you guys think, it's a project.
I'm anxious to see the Safari...after you get it, of course. As Tri-fives go, the Safaris' seem to be even rarer than Nomads. I'm also a huge fan of '55-'57 Safaris. I guess I like them all... Welcome again!
That Nomad is BEAUTIFUL! I was building one but only got part way into it before life circumstances forced me to sell it...
Life does get in the way of..................... life! To me the ideal wagon is a 1956 black or red Nomad. Almost bought a yellow and black one years ago. Don't remember why I didn't get it. Probably life. I think it was the same time I "supposedly" bought a near mint 1957 red 2-door hardtop with continental spare, etc. That car was to be waiting in his wife's garage when I got back from vacation. The guy failed to tell me they we getting a divorce and it was her car and her garage! A man in Texas saw her add and bought it. Darn Texans! Funny how we remember some things and forget what we had for breakfast.
