    Hello all..

jason here. Just acquired an ‘89 mercury colony park. Picked it up dirt cheap with a bad 302.

at first I thought I’d just rebuild it and be on my merry way, but…..

that’s just not me. So I’m building a nice fat 408 stroker with AFR heads, steel crank, and a Holley Sniper EFI

Gonna go with 18” Detroit Steel wheels and possibly an air ride set up. Paint is Crystal Blue, and I’ll spray it when I get it running.

Welcome aboard the wagon train Jason. Sounds like a sweet project you have planned. Keep us updated on your progress. We all love a good build, especially if you take lots of photos.

Welcome Jason. Good luck with you project. Those are very nice station wagons. That panther body platform is a great ride.

Welcome to the forum, I have had 3 panther platform wagons, 82 Crown Vic: 89 and most recently an 85 Colony Park.
Every time I see a new member with these, I mention the Ford AOD throttle valve brass replacement cable bushing
It is a very inexpensive part that could save you a transmission rebuild. I know! Original part is either plastic or Teflon, but it could brake without warning! When they do, you will tear apart your transmission and only have 1st gear left.

So how does that cause the trans to eat itself when it breaks?

Watch this kind of answers your question, I can't - have zero mechanical skills.
It's referencing a Mustang but applies to most Ford/Lincoln transmissions' from, I believe, 1983 to 1991.
    Ford AOD - Bing video
This pc broke in my 1989 Colony Park on the way home from work in 1993, left me with only 1st gear to get home - about 40 miles, the 3rd gear and overdrive were shot, and transmission had to be rebuilt. It was the 1st thing I replace on the 85 Colony Park when I purchased it in 2016.
    Hope this helps,

That's going to be one hot Colony Park. I dare say it's probably the only one in the country with anything bigger than a 351. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the '79 available with a 351; the 5.0 being standard?
Best of luck, Rangermagnum. Eager to watch the progress.

Have fun with the stroker motor build! no doubt it will be fun! are you planning running a mild stall converter and a bit of a cam with the motor? perhaps some MSD ignition? we would lovesome pics of the build!
