I have a 1995 Buick Roadmaster Estate Wagon being delivered to me this week (sometime). Question - should I buy a "1995-Chevrolet-Impala-SS-Caprice-Buick-Roadmaster-shop-service-repair-manual-SET" to have around just-in-case?? There is one on ebay now..... Anyone else use one of these? I haven't had one since my 1969 LTD and that was a long time ago!!!
Are you referring to a GM Factory Service Manual or something like a Haynes or Chilton manual? I would definitely recommend a factory service manual if you can pick one up used. A Haynes or Chilton manual can be okay in certain instances, but it doesn't really hold a candle to the factory version.
Thanks Kevin... It is the GM Shop Manual....I never found much use for the Chilton type books. I'll go ahead and buy this one. If I only use it once for something good it will pay for itself!!
Even the Haynes manuals are helpfull, if not 100% accuate at times. I think I paid $30 for the last one for my Dodge truck so anything near that would be a good deal.
About the only thing a Chilton's or Hayne's is good for, is to put your cold drink on while your working on your car.
Be careful sonny or I'll tell what we used those Sears catalogs for. It won't be pretty! Now shut the door. You're lettin flies in through the little moon window. Of course when we camped in Iowa we used corn husks.
The Haynes/Chilton/Motors manuals are worthless for anything other than brakes or oil changes. The factory CSMs can be had on ebay for less than $30. Don't waste your time or money on anything else.
