For that car I'd have a license plate that read: 'CAPTAIN'...as in "Captain Pack-ard". Seriously though, that's one sweet woody! Looks like a few pennies went into that one! That's a nice colour combo too with that maroon (at least it looks like maroon) with the wood trim. Very classy. Cool sighting! I've always loved those late 40s Packards though. I'd love to have a cream 1948-'49 Packard just like "Doc's" in Back to the Future, but non-convertible model. A 2-door, a 4-door, doesn't matter. Just as long as it has that swan hood ornament! Such a beautiful car.
It's not a "swan" - it's a "Cormorant" ...I was duly corrected for the same error by a real enthusiastic Packard collector. So I remembered from that little hissy-fit.
Ugh. Really? I freakin' hate cormorants. It requires a long explanation, so don't ask. lol I'm just going to continue believing it's a swan and pretend I didn't read that.
I'm not going to derail the thread to spout all the reasons why I dislike a bird and all their ecology-destroying habits. lol
From their website: 'Once a preventative cause, our initial goal was to stop the genocide of real birds. Unfortunately this was unsuccessful, and the government has since replaced every living bird with robotic replicas. Now our movement's prerogative is to make everyone aware of this fact.' Is this something out of The Onion or something? I guess hunters really enjoy eating robot-cyborgs? *slowly walks away, and quietly closes the door behind me...
Well, thank goodness for that! Unfortunately, you just never know in this day and age. I've even had pamphlets randomly handed to me in the past about the most insane tin foil hat-wearing stuff before, so good to know it's nothing "real". lol
Maybe one day I'll gather everyone around the campfire for a good old "here's why I hate cormorants" story. It really does require somewhat of a lengthy explanation though, so I'm just being too lazy to get into it. lol
That's a beautiful Packard. I love the color combo with the wood. Looks like some tasteful wheels and dual exhaust, so I'd wager this has had some updated done to it. I'm glad to see it out on the road being enjoyed.
