I am looking for a junk yard that has older cars in North Florida or south Georgia. Looking for parts for my 84 Olds Custom Cruiser. I haven't found one around Jacksonville. Help

    A couple comments/questions.

Are you looking for wagon-specific parts, or are you looking for parts forward of the firewall, which would mean that any full-size '84 Olds would likely be a possible donor car?

You might want to extend your search nationally. There are national used parts search engines if you google that kind of search term.

    Here's just one:

    http://www.car-part.com/

Remember that your car is now more than 30 years old, and local salvage yards are not likely to keep junk cars in their inventory when the demand for parts from them drops below a certain level. They'll just send such cars to the crusher. There are not many people, relatively speaking, looking for parts for mid-'80s station wagons, so there is little reason for salvage yards to keep these cars.

Jacksonville had several scrap yards with cars of those years. The U-Pull-It north of Gainseville sometimes has older wagons. I suppose you'd need to call. But what my son says is they just tell customers they need to come and look.
    No one is helpful anymore.

you can look for any make and model car specifically with www.row52.com that will tell you what yards locally to your area has what your looking for, or you can find a yard has your part, and get a part puller to pull it for you.

Row52 is cool in the fact that someone might find that part somewhere, but remember, it's someone doing work and having to do shipping to get it to you.

As for old car junkyards, they don't exist anymore. Towns, cities and counties do not allow that kind of business, and for the ones that do, regulations and taxes out the @$$. So having that '77 Buick header panel just isn't in the cards anymore.

There's an '85 Custom Cruiser at the Pull-A-Part in Augusta, may be a little far but those type yards are the only ones that hold anything even for a few months anymore.

Haha when I saw the title thread I was thinking old cars, like 50's 60's
Its still hard for me to think of something made after I was born as "old"

My dads reaction to me calling my '73 colony park a 'classic' was great... we're talking about the wagon, and trying to get it running and I keep calling her a 'classic' and he finally looks at me and says "would you stop calling it a classic! I could have bought one! to me it's just an old car... a classic is a lot older!" he then stops for a moment, seeing the sly grin on my face... sighs "I'm getting old"
So I'm sure I annoy him as much as I probably annoy the rest of y'all. :D

Awhile back a classic was an older upper priced vehicle. I can't exactly remember what they really were. The words antique, classic, collector car are changing as more cars become 30 to 40 years old.
When I was in high school Model A Fords were just old cars.

I need to get on here and annoy members as much as I can. Sometime tomorrow I'll be turning off my satellite dish and packing my computer crap to move to Illinois. I never want to see another satellite dish.
Leaving now either Thursday or Friday with mixed feelings. We love our piece of Florida sand but life's changes happen.
So all of you new members have fun while you can and annoy the heck out of us. It keeps us awake.

Another search engine is SEARCHTEMPEST. It gets you in to CL's all over the country and Canada.

Don't expect to find those in any wrecking yard. The ones out there will all look like your current ones.
