Last weekend I went to RAAF (Royal Australian Air Force) Base Amberley, for their annual airshow. I've been many times before (I used to work there) and skipped a few, but since this year is the last time they will fly the F111 before it gets phased out, thought I would get some parting pics. So ladies and gentelmen, without further adieu, I give you "The Pig" (AKA General Dynamics F111 Aardvark) and friends. Bushmaster '42 Chev DC3 (not sure what year model)
Here's some old warbirds The Hudson and the Canberra bomber both started up side by side. The noise was incredible. The worlds only flying Gloucester Meteor The Canberra is started using a concussive blast, that generates a pneumatic bump for the turbines. SmokeSmokeSmoke. Unfortunately, I was too busy watching to take pics. There are more shots in my ALBUM
I flew in a DC3 to a plant tour in Northern Ontario. Our engineering class chartered the plane. We even had a stewardess in her mid-50's! On our way home from the tour (Seamless steel natural gas pipelines - awesome process!), the Pilot gets on the PA and tells the 25 of us, that after he drops us off, that they're on their way to the Virgin Islands with a load of prostitutes for recycling. We chuckled, but most of us were worried about this old plane and whether the Stewie would keep her legs under her. Noisy and basic aircraft.
