    I'm intested in finding out how many(of my wagon) were built. I suppose most of us would like to know the answer to this question? So I'm wondering if any one else has looked for this same information and how did you go about it? I really have know idea where to start.
    :anyone: have any suggestions?

    Well in my case there is a pretty awesome forum out there for the AMC Eagle and there has been a lot of work put into history and creating an Eaglepedia. Most of the production numbers can be found on there. I'm not sure where you'd start if you don't have something readily available like that.

    Mine was even broken up into categories and year! :)

    There WAS a GREAT site called COMP NINE that provided deep info for GM cars. It was an incredibly good site that gave more info on cars by VIN than GM did. For some unknown reason, it simply closed up shop and disappeared. It was the best site of its kind anywhere. What a shame that was! Now I don't know what to tell you, fannie. I believe your car was built in Canada...I don't know if that will make a difference, but, I do know, that there are sites out there with this info. As Prafeston has alluded, you may want to check your car specific forums and other sites featuring your car.

    I have checked on Canadian Poncho forum, they have a register for all Canadian Pontiac but there is no production numbers for many of the cars and of course mine is one of them. I had the vin number decoded when I first got the car, I wanted to make sure that it was the real thing, but still no production quantity. I have sent off an email to Canadian Classic Chevelle and Beaumonts, they are the ones that decoded the vin, so maybe they might have a lead???
    Thanks for the Chevelle site SF but I believe those are American cars my vin starts with 73135, but it is a start. I had sent off to GM Canada Vintage Vehicle Service in Oshawa for specifications but there was no product numbers. They have linked my wagon to a Chevrolet model # 13135 and that is on your list but I believe that is for mechanical parts if needed.
    Part of the vin decoding has a brake down as follows:

    731=Beaumont 6 cyclinder
    35=four door station wagon
    8=model year 1968
    1=assembly plant Oshawa Ontario
    1=start of assembly unit number
    10802=where your car is off the assembly line

    If I understand it right this last number means that there were at least 10,802 made??? Would that be right??? Sounds like alot of Canadian wagons for for one model year???

    Thanks for the input guys. :)

    Fannie - on my Chevelle, Canadian made, the PO sent a request to GM Canada and got back a letter that confirmed date of manufacture, the options on the car, and the name of the dealer and the date it was delivered there. The letter, dated Aug 02, 2002, was from George J Zapora, Vintage Specialist, General Motors of Canada, 1908 Colonel Sam Drive, Oshawa, ON L1H 8P7. No email address was noted on the forms, however, you might find that info on the internet? Worth checking and if not, try sending snail mail.

    Fannie: That sequence number is not the number of wagons produced, but the number of vehicles produced at that factory for that calendar year. I would hazard a guess that being a Beaumont wagon, the number would be quite small, quite possibly in the low triple digits, and my feeling is that there are but a handful remaining. What I love about the Beaumont is that they have the Chevelle body, with the American Pontiac dash and instrument panel. They also had specific trims that were just that nice bit 'up market' from the Chev equivalent.

    For anyone who has a car subject to drive clean in Ontario, if fewer than 300 were built, the model will not appear in the data base, which makes emission testing just a trifle difficult.

    Yeah, I thought that number was high for the number of wagons built. I believe your right, it would be a much smaller number. :)

    Oh...I see now that you have been there AND that you must have a 6 cylinder wagon for which there is no number. My apologies. I should have read your post more thoroughly.:oops:
