He didn't realize that before pickups were, well, pickups, there were just cars, and they did EVERYTHING. From the roadster, to the touring sedan, the station wagon to the 'pickup,' you had your choice as long as it was painted black.

He was telling me about two guys that came over to him while he was getting gas, to talk about the wagon. He was really excited about the attention...cool!

 We need to get that truck fixed.

And once you get the truck fixed he can finish the Pontiac! :stirthepot::whistle:
Then you'll have at least 3 options for hauling lumber.

Hey, that's what they did back then. I hauled a 400 engine from a truck in my Colony Park; All it did was dent the cargo floor steel and the doors.

Sadly I have no motor vehicle stories to share.;)

But............ As you may know we adopted our first grandson. We then retired and took him to Florida to retire when Steven was nearly five and I was 55. Wife Dollie was somewhere in between. I retired. The rug rat and Dollie kept working at whatever they do. Steven loved old cars and was helping me by the time he was maybe a year old. I believed in child labor back then!
All this talk about old cars, Model A's and rumble seats got to him.

We had a friend in Florida who had a lot of diffrent Model A's. His normal transportation was a one ton flat bed Model T that he called the Chicken truck. I'm sure some of you have seen these things in movies and maybe on the Beverly Hillbillies. He had crates of fake chickens, milk jugs, and other old timey junk on and in that truck. He went up and down the 4-lane where all the blue haired snowbirds and everyone traveled to go south to DizzyWorld and places.
I never had many friends, but somehow I picked the weird ones! :p (are you my friend?) Well I gave Bill, we'll call him Bill. I forgot his name. I gave Bill a Model T wood wheel. I had plenty and no Model T's anymore. It was nuthin, but ole Bill wanted to do somethin for me.:)
He showed up in his yeller Model A coupe with rumble seat to get the wood wheel. Steven was all over that Model A. It wasn't pretty, it wasn't fancy, it was like Model A's used to look before people like you and me restorified them.
I looked at ole Bill and said "take Steven for a ride in the rumble seat." Bill did and I rode up front with Bill. This was nearly 25 years ago and I can still hear and see Steven grinnin and laughin! He's ridden in a few other rumble seats before and after that. Just how many 28 year old kids can say way back when they were young they rode in a rumble seat?
I ain't got no more car stories,.......... maybe one more!

You are partially correct. The first Fords actually came in several colors since they were built one at a time. Even the Model T which was normally black could be ordered red, blue, grey, and a few other colors.
The black paint back then drid the fastest and made assembly line painting easier!

My 1972 Gran Torino was nearly new when I drove 150 miles to get a complete running 1926 Model T engine, top bows, and other Model T parts. The engine was on a display stand and was started. :90: It wasn't running when I hauled it home.;)
I put plywood and blankets on the floor of the wagon and up each side. Made it back 150 miles without a scratch.:thumbs2:

I'd like to see that book if it's real.
What's amazing is many of these barn finds are in big cities where there are no barns! I think they are BAR finds!

I once owned and I restored a 1933 Chevy Master sort like this and it was in a dirt floor garage.
