Hi, OK fellas a story for your entertainment. My Plymouth was idling on the driveway and suddenly stopped and then wouldn't start, I tried several times on different days but no start. After some very basic tests I surmised that there was no spark and so reasoned that the fault was in the ignition system. My mechanical knowledge is pretty basic so I got a mobile mechanic to come and have a look. He was reluctant at first because he doubted that he'd be able to get parts - remember I'm in the UK. Still I convinced him to come just to tell me where he thought the problem was. As good as his word he came along and identified the ICM (Ignition Control Module) as the likely culprit. We used my laptop on line and looked at the Rock Auto site where there was a choice of ICMs to fit the wagon. But we noticed that they had 4 pin connectors where as mine had five. Was this a mistake? Later I emailed Rock Auto and explained my concern. They advised that they receive information from manufacturers and list accordingly. Not convinced I searched ebay's US site and found a five pin ICM that was listed as a replacement for the wagon. Great! A few days ago I received notification that the ICM would be delivered when I'd paid tax and a handling fee. Not something that you have to do with Rock Auto as they deduct tax themselves. Still, tax and handling fee paid the unit was delivered the next day. I tore open the package to find an ICM with four pins! Doh! It was then that I found a small note in the box saying that five pin ICMs have been superseded by a four pin design thanks to product development. Doh again! Still ICM was fitted and the car started. Phew! Happy Christmas and have a Good New Year!
