Partsrequest.com...has anybody had any luck with this sight?. It asks for your car and specific parts needed and they "keep their eyes peeled" for you through a network of junk yards. There is a 3.99 fee to make a parts request. I'm a little skeptical of giving up information to strangers on the internet, but if it's a legit business it seems worth it
Between car-parts.com, ebay, and craigslist/searchtempest I can usually find what I need if given enough time. I personally wouldn't pay someone to do the same thing I can do with some extra time on my hands. What are you looking for that is so hard to find?
I been just been poking around for a couple of trim pieces. Parts request.con might be legit but it sure felt like a scam. I didn't even completely fill out the information before they were calling and sending emails. The guy also said he was in Chicago but it sure sounded like India. Thanks for the tips. Believe it or not I am new to the internet searching and I guess I'm rather gullible.
I would think you would have just as much chance of that guy locating those trim pieces if he were in Chicago or India. Either way, do you think they are going to spend hours scanning junkyards and making phone calls to track them down for the $3.99 you paid? Even if by some miracle they did find the parts who knows what kind of shape they would be in or how much they would cost. My guess is they somehow get a cut of the price of the part. I wouldn't even bother with them and just keep your eyes open. The parts are out there, you just have to be willing to do the legwork to find them.
I agree. The crazy thing is I never paid the 3.99$ just exited out of the site soon as it asked for money but they called me anyway... very pushy fella at that. Like I said I'm new at the internet searches. Just seeing what's out there. I'll follow your advice and stick the the basics
Tracking cookies are an amazing thing. Like how I can look at an item on ebay (not even add to my watch list, just look at an item) and magically three days later I'll get a reminder in my e-mail inbox that the auction for that item is ending soon. Amazon does a lot of that too.
