No sir. I can't speak for all years of Chevy (not gmc) Suburbans, but the 55 only came two ways: driver/passenger with barn-doors (like opening an ambulance) or driver/passenger with tailgate (or what they call "clam-shell") like the one I have.

Personally, I like the clam-shell style because it is more versitale. I can lower the tailgate and use it like a shelf for burgers and such or I can sit on the tailgate and drink beer. I can bring up the tailgate and leave the window open with a surf board hanging out the back or I can close the back window as well.

You can't do that with "barn doors" Moooo!

When I was a kid and used to walk around with the naughty zipper down, peers used to tell me to shut my barn door. I still to this day don't understand the connection between a barn door and a zipper on a kid's pants. Was it because some kids used to stuff toy tractors in there or what? We had our fair share of weird kids, back then. On the way to adulthood, "Close your barn door!" was replced by"You need to catch your fly, Dude". Now, buy this panel, so you yourself can do beer and burgers on the tailgate. Besides, we don't want him going crazy on our forum

From the little I read on this topic I'm afraid it's way too late for most of us here not being a little bit crazy.:coco:
I'd also prefer the station wagon style lift gate on a panel truck. Longer items can be hauled just by lifting the upper lift gate or just the lower 'tailgate'. With my barn door swinging doors it's not practical to leave them open to carry things.
As for beer, I can still sit on the rear floor with the barn doors open and flip my burgers on a cheap grille next to the panel truck.

I do remember the warnings about "close your barn door" when walking out of the little boys room at grade school. By the time I graduated high school I had it mostly figured out!

Lift the Monte Carlo license bracket to access the trailer hitch and electrical plug.
The right door is remote controled with a 'pusher' to open it slightly.
The left door still has the original inner handle and latch.

Getting all of the doors gaps right took almost a day on each door.

Looking at your panel is fine, but I would agree with you - My '49 is in Decent-Shape!

This what the 55 Chevy Suburban could look like that I'm selling for $2,500 dollars! Notice the lower right-hand corner of the picture (This Suburban is in a Magazine)!
