Hi all.............joined a long time ago and then baby stuff started happening. Anyways, I grew up driving a 78 LTD Country Squire battle tank. Dark green with wood trim and rusting rear bumper and a solenoid that required a good sharp rock to hit it every now and then to get the car running. Ah, I miss those days. Last drove it when I was 19 (so that was 1989 or so), as the tranny kept failing (rebuilt twice) and my mom was getting concerned on how detailed my descriptions of roadkill were when I could look through the hole in the floorboard driving over them. The Green Machine spent her entire life outdoors in New England (early life she was covered with many feet of snow during the Blizzard of 78). Anyways, I miss her. Would love to find her twin out there. Anyone see any out there??? I'm sure it's a needle in the haystack to find her. Wish I still had her original info so I could go looking for her, but hey, I'm not Pappa John, so can't start a national ad campaign to find her.
Welcome, Mike. We have a member here who had a CS just like that one...but he totalled it. He then bought another CS, this time a red one. Keep looking. Sooner or later, one is bound to show up.
They're definitely out there to be had and since green was such a popular color back then, I'll bet you can get one if you try hard enough. Good luck; that vintage Ford wagon was as big as they ever got. They downsized in '79, never to return to the behemoths they were!
Found one for you, Mike, on E-bay in New York. Looks pretty nice! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ford...9099822QQsspagenameZRSSQ3aBQ3aSRCHQ3aUSQ3a101
