This '91 Chevy Camaro RS sold for $CDN 18,975 at RM Auctions in May. Apparently the car was driven from the dealership (or maybe trailered?) directly into storage. According to the Bank of Canada inflation calculator, $CDN 18,975 today was worth $CDN 12,374 in 1991. Do you think the seller made money? Or lost money? http://www.ccpauctions.com/lot-details.php?RefNum=r049&EventID=90
We all know what $18,000cdn will buy off the lot now. I believe that car sold well. Is there interior pics?
Original owner lost money w/o a doubt. 24 years in interest on $12.3 would amount to much more than $6.3k. Plus if there were insurance and storage charges? But certainly well bought by the new owner.
The car was sold locally from huge dealer called Parkway (Pontiac, Buick) Plaza (Chevrolet, Oldsmobile, Cadillac ). It was probably the biggest GM dealer in the province. http://www.examiner.com/article/end-of-an-era-the-parkway-plaza Here is a 2009 view of the Chevy dealer https://www.google.ca/maps/@45.4929...ata=!3m4!1e1!3m2!1sp23VtjTnGkS-dFMWtFRPgQ!2e0 Today https://www.google.ca/maps/@45.4929...sUHHHh4-7jsVszIQYAYHrYg!2e0!5s20140801T000000 Pontiac was on the other side 2009 https://www.google.ca/maps/@45.4907...QYlceJLjMPl1gVg!2e0!5s20070901T000000!6m1!1e1 Today https://www.google.ca/maps/@45.4907...skOKsXDPbWQ5SlF3LwWGRxw!2e0!5s20140701T000000
Here's another '91 Camaro that sold (for $4,235) at the same auction: Maybe the seller liked the Camaro so much, he/she bought two and put one immediately in storage? http://www.ccpauctions.com/lot-details.php?RefNum=r270&EventID=90
If you're a 'car investor' and want to do something like this, you have to pick your vehicle very carefully - should, if possible, be a very limited edition version, and more than just a 'stripes and decals' job. Should have some equipment that you can't get on the other versions of the particular model. Indy 500 Pace Car Editions would be one that would fall into this category. For this investor, just buying a 'RS' was not the thing to do.
Are you saying that the "investor" would probably like to jump off the overpass after making that "investment", Cat?
That is possible. I see there is only 1 tenth on the trip odometer. Wondered if that is how far they went to take the photos. Since it hasn't been driven in many years chances are many things need replaced. Such a waste of a fun car all these years. I bought those first wheels from a young guy whos dad worked at the Chevy garage about five miles from their speed shop. They replaced those tires and wheels with custom wheels and i bought the new take offs for my 55 Chevy wagon. Little did I know I had to change wheel studs and lug nuts to work with those wheels.
there is /was a dealer in Halifax (oreagans) that put one away every year . They were stored in the old Volvo production plant.
And now it's back on auction at RM Auctions. It now has 228 km. The new owner drove it a total of 40 km. since being sold last May. http://www.ccpauctions.com/lot-details.php?RefNum=r046&EventID=92
Wow. A v-6 Camaro. Sweet. Wouldn't it have been easier to take a new picture rather than photoshop the picture from the old ad onto a new street?
I'm thinking the car was photoshopped both times. Maybe it doesn't run or the engine is rusted solid... or there is no such car and it's a figment of someone's imagination. Or someone just likes to photo shop red Camaros. I'd still like to have those wheels to put back on my wagon.
When did you get glasses, Cat!? Looking at the original and new pic, there is something that suggests both are photo shopped.
