I am new to the forum from Saskatchewan Canada. I recently bought a 1966 Ford Country Sedan with a 289 auto. It was a government fleet car for the provincial power company. It has power nothing and even radio and clock delete.
Welcome to the forum, eh! That's a sweet wagon you picked up there. All said, it looks like it survived the last 56 years pretty well. In true Canadian fashion though, most fleet cars were ultra stripped down. Radio and ashtray delete, rubber floor mats, no side view mirrors (who needs those!), no passenger side sun visor, no interior dome light, no extra trim or amenities whatsoever, etc. After all, you don't want your employees getting too comfortable or wasting time listening to the radio all day! At least yours has a V8 and a dome light! Again, welcome to the forum and feel free to keep us updated with your adventures in it! Cheers and happy motoring!
Welcome, I see it even has the single speed wipers. I had a spare two speed switch, harness and motor that I let go with my 66 7 Litre when I sold it.
Welcome aboard LocoCanada. That's a clean looking wagon you have there. I really like it. What are your plans for it?
Thank you. It has some rust on the driver side and needs passenger side floor on the front and back and also the spare tire well. But the bumpers are straight, no dents anywhere on the body and the frame is solid. The windshield and other glass is perfect. The engine has had a rebuild somewhere along the way. I am rebuilding the carb right now, replacing a brake line and am putting on some radial tires. The plan is to drive it within the next month. I’m not sure whether to eventually paint it back to stock orange or just leave it like it is. It is a pretty cool car
Looks great! Sounds like something you van get running and enjoy while you are deciding what to do next.
Cool beans. It might be cool if it was the original colour, but I actually really like the robin egg blue that's on it now. Regardless, it'll be a fun ride once you get 'er dolled up. It's a cool car, regardless.
I’ll look out my door left and right to see if I can see her. We can see for miles and more miles in Saskatchewan. And thank you!
Thank you Wagonrodder. Been doing some work on her and am excited to get some tires changed. I don’t trust those old, old bias plies outside of the farm. Do I post updates here or in another thread?
