I just bought this wagon last week. I`m a single dad so this is a project with my son and daughter ages 13 &14 . Wagon has no rust, needs paint and fake wood . Perfect interior. Runs on highway well. crappy idle. 307 with electronic Rochester quad . 89000. miles WE LOVE IT!

    Welcome!

Sounds like the twin to mine. Mine's an '85 Electra, but really it's the same car, same engine, same crappy carb.

Where are you from? What are your plans?

Well I guess put the whole system back like it was or change the whole engine entirely. SW Florida . I`m trying to figure out where everything is and also understand what has been done before I got there .

Welcome aboard. Sounds like a cool wagon. It also sounds like a great way to spend time with your kids. Good luck with all of the little projects.

Welcome to the group. We are also in SW Fl and our 87 Safari has the same 307 with probably the same carb. Car ran rough in Maryland for as long as I could remember . When we first moved down here an Old School mechanic in Cape Coral suggested we switch to low ethanol marine gas which is everywhere and add Lucas upper cylinder lubricant. It took a few tankfuls but the difference has been night and day and all I use now is marine gas. Good luck.

The wagon is running better at idle but we can smell gas fumes off and on (maybe rich). Found old mud dauber nests every where (been sitting). I`m told that faulty o2 sensor can cause a run rich situation. I talked to national carb in Jacksonville who quoted $309.rebuilt elect. carb rebuilt shipped or will rebuild mine for some less$ .Has anyone used them before ?

    Welcome --------- :Welcome:
We lived in NW Florida just south of the Suwannee River. Our son, still in Gainesville, bought a carb from that company and a 7004R tranny from another Jacksonville shop. He was satisfied with both.
We also only used marine gas from a local filling station. Nice to live near water and boaters.
