Hi, I am new to the forum. Past wagons include a Ford Torino wagon, 2004 Ford Taurus wagon, 1980 something Subaru wagon. Current wagons are an Audi Allroad and a 1973 Chevy Chevelle Malibu 454 SS 8-passenger wagon, which was just on Ebay. While searching for info on the SS came I came cross a thread on this site discussing the 454 car and auction. So, now I am here!
Welcome to the SWF, Composet1. We've been watching your sale ad with interest. As I stated in the 'Auctions..' post, I think this is a wagon that should be restored. Problem is, these mid 70's GM mid-sized vehicles are not getting as much interest from the restoration crowd as the earlier '68-'72 versions, hence the last of new parts for them. They also suffered from some of their own problems- interiors that didn't hold up well; restricted engines due to the 70's emission requirements; some rust issues, etc. Overall, fixing this one up isn't going to be as easy as say a '70 Chevelle wagon, but I think in the end it will be worth it. Challenge for you: Set up a 'project' thread in our 'Projects' section. It's a great way to get yourself motivated. Good Luck! Marshall
Welcome to the nuthouse we call home! You will fit right in around here. I second Krash Kadillac's challenge to you. Start a thread in the projects section. We love to keep up with, offer encouragement to, and play voyeur with guys like you who are up to your necks in wagon projects. To get an idea of what kind of thing we love most, check out Vetteman's thread on rebuilding his 71 Grand Safari. Be sure to include lots of pictures. One thing is for sure, you have a super rare, one year only, model there, and it is terrific that it landed in the loving hands of someone who appreciates it for what it is, not what it is worth.
