Hi Everyone. Phil in Buffalo, New York here. I finally pulled the trigger on a '96 RMW LT1, white/woody/beige interior, 143K. Damn, it feels good to finally be a title-holding member of this club! My dad had a '92 RMW (light blue, wood delete...former rural mail delivery car). I had the privilege of using that car to travel to Florida, the Adirondacks, and other remote destinations. I fell in love with it and have wanted one ever since. To my mind, the RMW is one of the finest automobiles ever built.

My recent acquisition is (I'm told) originally a Minnesota car, solid underneath, and a strong runner (albeit with a few issues, which I have already started sorting out). I could use some advice (and maybe some parts!) from the community, which seems to be very collegial. Looking forward to meeting my fellow wagon enthusiasts and picking up some wisdom as a result. Thanks for having me!

Now, on to the roof rack issues...

Welcome to forum! I've always been torn between an Electra, late 90's RMW or a Colony Park.
When a Colony Park, that I looked at 3 years ago came back on the market just couldn't pass it up.
sorry I can't offer any insight on a RMW.
    But welcome!

Hi Phil. From one new-whale-wagon-owner to another, welcome! I just took delivery on my '93 Caprice yesterday, my first wagon of this generation. Having owned two previous wagons (clamshell and boxy) I can confirm this forum definitely has a strong community feel to it; almost like family. :)

Enjoy getting to know your new wagon!

    Matt

Thanks for the warm welcome. Congrats on the Caprice Matt. I previously had a '93 Caprice Sedan that I'd still be driving had it not rotted out from under me...

    Welcome to the forum, Phil.

Our resident GM whale wagon expert would probably be '81X11' aka Texas Mike, who has a RMW very similar to yours. If he hasn't already responded to your request for help on the roof rack, he will soon.

Welcome to our little corner of the net. Excellent looking RMW you have there. Is that your cute little van in the back ground?

    :Welcome:

No...but I wish it was! Those pics were taken at the seller's house, before I bought the car. He had all kinds of cool stuff, including the van (which was more than meets the eye) and an immaculate '95 Cadillac Deville with gold trim.
