Hi from Lompoc ca. Here is my 1963 Mercury Meteor 4 door Custom wagon. I'll list more stats on my info page later. Thanks for having this site and i will get a few more wagon owners to join. http://www.picturetrail.com/gallery/view?&p=999&uid=2614536&gid=5987331&&imgid=76866668&offset=0 rick
Great car. An yet another Ford/Mercury owner. We always look forward to new wagon lovers here. The more the merrier I always say. Lompoc is not all that far from Ridgecrest. I can stand in my back yard and watch the missile launches from there. Quite spectacular right at sunset. We may have a show coming up in May. Sponored by Wyle Labs. Last year was their first one. Only about 20 cars but it was great fun. I'm going to enter mine this year. It may be worth the drive if you're so inclined. Again the more the merrier. There was no wagons last year so this year there will be at least one. I'm hoping there's a Cougar coupe that I can park next to.
With Rick's wagon, it would be like Grandpa and son. I saw your car and immediately thought Mercury Monterrey (but that's a Canadian model). Nice machine. Welcome. Hope those links work out, for the rear cargo area.
What's really interesting that a Mercury Meteor is not a Comet! But they are similar in size. That's when Mercurys were really different than the Fords. Not any more.
That Badging game is sad. They all built this duality into their marketing schemes and lost the Art of innovation. Competition within divisions wasn't directed beyond the trademark lawyers.
Rick, although it's not a comet, and the Rev has adopted you, you may find this Falcon page really useful. The guy has a couple of the menu links to his cars at the top. http://webpages.charter.net/1bad6t/helpfullinks.html
I was checking my posts and saw your site handle. I got curious - Rare Winged God??? So I googled it. Hermes was Greek, Mercury was Roman, and eventually became Cupid. Lebanon has the best Roman-built temple/fortess built and preserved to this day, in Baaltek, Lebanon, and the Aztecs had a Winged God, as well. http://www.steveislost.com/blog/photos-baalbek-lebanon-the-city-of-the-sun.html Anyway, this Mercury guy was one busy puppy - Messenger, Speed, and on and on. I used "Winged God" Mercury, for the search and got 2450 hits.
, Mercs, I love Mercs. My 2nd car was a 62 Beteor (not a wagon)with the tiny 221 V8, 3 tree. Yours being a 63 though, are you a 260 or an inline 6? The only real differance between the 2 bodys was the grille and tail lites, couple trim pieces also. The 62's had round gun sites on the front fenders and the 63 just had the chrome piece. Cool car, hope you have fun with it!
