Ok folks I can't resist giving a bit of a tease and starting this post now.
I'm getting a new (to us anyway) member to the car family.
I will be picking it up and driving it home early next week, so I won't keep you in too much suspense.
Keep checking back for more updates.
First let me regale you with a what my dad had back long before I was born, and got rid of it long before I was born as well.
My dad bought himself a family wagon when he needed one for my older brothers, he bought a 1970 Coronet 440 wagon, in a light blue, with a 318.
He loved that wagon although it had its problems, mainly with the radiator, as he would put it "typical Chrysler cooling" he paid about 3,500 at the time. He loved that wagon, in spite of its problems.
My mother on the other hand hated it, it left her stranded with my two brothers on many occasion.
To each there own I guess... and no ladies and gents, that is NOT the wagon I found. :mischeif:
Stay tuned to this channel for updates as they come in...:D

I always thought it was "Typical Chrysler electrical system"???
The last Chrysler I ever had zapped itself out and burned up in the driveway of the house of the guy I sold it to.:D

Until 2004 when I bought my Dodge truck the only Chrysler product I had was my first car, a 1949 Dodge sedan. Almost everytime it rained I had to wipe out the inside of the distributor cap!
So-------where's Mr leadsled's new toy? This is as bad as fannie and her license tag.

Something like this would be fun.

So I asked my dad, if you could get any wagon other than the one you had, what would it be?
"well, it would probably be a Ford, I've always liked the looks of them, and they always seemed to last"
well, that was vague... so I probe... "what kind of Ford dad? they made a few of them"
"well...let me think..." He fades off into thought...
Stay tuned gang! We'll be back right after these messages...

So after a moment he says "well it would have to have been full size, probably a country squire, those where nice."
"So if I came home with a country squire I would have one upped you on wagons?" I reply.
"I guess so, why?" He asks quizzically with a slight tilt of the head.
"Well what if I came back with something... better?"
    "Such as?"
"ohhhh... How about a Colony Park?"
His eyes widen slightly, then that far off dreamy look enters them... "A Colony Park, those where nice. I remember an advertisement back then 'If Lincoln made a station wagon, this would be it'."
Yes ladies and gents, I will soon have in my possession (unless something happens to it, or me)
One fully loaded, 1973 Mercury Colony Park. (applause) sorry to keep y'all in suspense for too long, hope I didn't irritate too many people. Just been busy, as for pics, you'll have to wait, and for that I apologize...
I have to drive out and get it, I'll be leaving Tuesday, soon as I have pics and can post them, y'all have pics.
Any questions please ask, be glad to share what I can, I'm just hoping I don't lose out on a sweet, sweet deal.
Stay tuned to this channel for more updates...

Ok folks, slight change of plans, won't be driving out...
I'll be taking the train! Hows that for old fashioned travel? (y)
That's what I'm on now should be arriving at my destination in oh 20 hours... then Wednesday I pay for and drive my wagon home, I'll be sure to take lots of pics of the wagon, and the trip home, and will post when I can.
Looking forward to giving this classy chassis gal a new and loving home.

Aw, man, you really know how to hurt a guy...taking the train? I haven't rode a train since I got out of the Navy in '89. No matter how slow we went, how bad the track was (10 MPH slow order through the Wisconsin Dells. So gorgeous in late September), or how much crap I carried (about 170 pounds or so on a hand truck), I had fun.
