Hi Everyone! I have been lurking around the site for a few weeks learning and reading and decided to join up today because I have some questions I could not find answers to. I just bought a 1965 Mercury Colony Park from a reasonable local guy (GREAT GUY!! and has some sweet Wagons) here in Northern California. My Wife is 5 months pregnant and as a baby present I am going to give her the completely restored wagon. My plan is to pick her and my newborn up in the Colony Park for the first time when they leave the hospital after she gives birth! With all that said, I do not have a whole lot of time, I have put my other vehicle projects on hold and am focusing on getting this big beauty knocked out ASAP! I have some questions for folks that know these vehicles better but I will post those in the appropriate forum! Looking forward to contributing any help that I can! Jordan
Another great reason to join the forum and buy a station wagon. Good luck on the new baby and getting the delivery vehicle finished in time. I don't think your wife or the baby will wait more than four months. There are a lot of experts here who may be able to help. (With wagon info, not baby delivery) There have been more great introductions and reasons to belong to this group today than in a long time. Most of us join just because we have or like station wagons.
Welcome, fellow NorCal neighbor! What a great story about bringing your new baby home in your Colony Park. I love the Ford and Mercury wagons of the 1960s, especially the woodies.
Wreckless , look forward to seeing some pics of your longroof and happy family on pickup day from Downunder
Welcome to the nuthouse we call Home. You are going to fit in just fine! Great excuse to buy a wonderful wagon, and best, that it is to be driven, not treated as art! Along the way, there are some upgrades you may consider doing to improve the fuel economy and safety of the old car, that's for sure. Front disc brakes and a split system are a definite something to consider, and not all that difficult to accomplish. You may even be surprised at the mikeage that can he coaxed out of that lovely wagon, too. Mean time, have fun, join in, and let's see pictures of the car, and when the time comes, the wee one!
What a sweet baby gift! Good luck with everything, for sure these guys will help you out. Hope it all comes together in time.
