Thanks to a friend on a bike site I belong to I have discovered this site. Just stopping to get my info in and say hello to all of you station wagon lovers. I thought I was among only a few. Bought our 1955 Chevy wagon as a parts hauler back in central Illinois in Winter of 1988. Livin up to its name as a Handyman wagon, it's first life was as a plumber's work vehicle. A young guy bought it and transformed it into a custom. When I bought it, it already had new bright red paint with custom interior and V-8 / 4 speed. I planned on just fixin a few paint runs and changing a couple of things. !!!! I fixed those few runs by sanding it all off and starting over. Replaced the beer-can patches in the floors and a few bondo patches. After a total redo I spent too much time and money to haul parts in it. But still do. It's been around Lake Michigan twice, all over midwest and now around Florida, Ala, and Georgia. As the Illinois front tag says "R TOY 55". So, here I am, ready to check you guys and gals out.
Tri-Five Chevys My favorite cars are Model "A" Fords and 1940 Fords. Sold Model "A" coupe to buy a Model "T" touring many years ago. Not the greatest car to drive on lime rock and 4-lanes here in Florida so traded it for a 1948 Chevy panel truck project. Closest I got to a 1940 Ford Coupe is my 1939 deluxe Ford Coupe with small block Chevy. Owned it since 1966 or so. Always loved the 1955 Chevy BelAir 2dr HT. Ended up with a 2dr sedan wife found at an Illinois yard sale. Then the 1955 wagon found me as I was driving home from work one cold snowy winter morning. Also had a 1957 BelAir 2dr HT. We sold both sedans when moving to Florida. Can only haul so much junk 1100 miles! I like vehicles that are cheap and different. The 55 wagon and the 48 panel fit that perfectly back when I bought them. No one in his right mind drove an old station wagon in the 80's. First car show we drove the 1955 wagon to a Father's Day event, we won first in special interest! Been driving it ever since.

No Swamp Thing NO! I believe it was you who said I came from the Black Lagoon. Actually I believe that movie was made not too far from the boonies where we live.
Welcome cat looks like your making a few friends already. Nice wagon you got there. Hope you enjoy the site. Do you drive a bike also?
No Bike -----------Why, does it show? Actually I found out about this forum group from a friend on a bike site. The answer about riding is YES & NO! Sold our bike 17 years ago when we moved to Florida from Illinois. Gonna get another someday, we said. We brought a five year old we adopted and couldn't leave him anyplace. Besides we were involved in camping and cars, which three can do. The son is nearly 22 and he has a bike but we still don't. Someday hasn't arrived yet!:banghead3: Thanks for compliment.
