http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yopO9vPcOlw Maybe I'll have something to look forward to at the auctions in a few years. Now if they would just come out with a wagon model to go with it.
RWD!...Now that is impresive! FWD has proven to be a .....CRAP, we learned as kids on trikes FWD sucks. Even if not for publick "yet", it's nice to see RWD is in the making at Government Motors again.
Well, I must say I'm glad to see it. Too bad they don't have a "civilian" counterpart. Perhaps in the future one will become available. Maybe an Impala SS ala' 1996? Now, Ford is again caught asleep at the switch having become comfy with the aging (although still great) Crown Vic being phased out and no new RWD big sedan to replace it.
they can't make a civilian version of it. as it stands it is a fleet only vehicle and (will) sells less than x amount of units per year, thus placing it well under the cafe guidelines and making it a special production/limited edition vehicle. by doing this..it doesn't eat away at the corporate average fuel economy and they can keep the camaro. i really really hate to say this....but i think we have seen the end of the v8 in civilian cars except for the muscle cars!
I'm driving a 15 year old cop car that's in pretty good condition. Those things will be coming up at auction in a couple of years.
And as wagons are becoming more scarce by the minute I'm hoping our local RCMP (police) buys some of these.....I'll be on the hunt for one of them come auction time.
There are several 2wd Chevy Tahoe police cars in Vermont. I'd like to hope that a wagon version comes out - they will need something to replace the Tahoes...
I thought I read a while back that they were going to make a civilian version. Probably not for a few years. http://www.chevroletcapriceppv.com/#home
The Caprice is gonna be built in Australia. Sorry, but I'm not interested. Ford unveiled their Interceptor concept based on the Taurus. My city's force had many Taurus SHOs in their garage, and those SOBs could MOVE and CORNER!!! In 1995 I was outside at 2:30am having a smoke, and I heard the scream of an engine; soon, the halo effect of red-n-blues around the buildings were apparent and then suddenly a Taurus screams up and hangs two 90-degree corners doing 40 mph, no sirens. Didn't even have any roll, just hung it like it was a slot car. And it was gone. My eyes were out of their sockets, jaw to the deck. I swore I'd get one surplus someday... Instead, I went Nissan. I'm happier.
the 3rd gen 90's sho had a yamaha v8 that was fast and sounds awsome ...but the had an issue with the cam i think.
