I came across this photo of the Griswold Wagon, on display at the World of Wheels 2009 show in Kansas City, MO: ^ Click photo for more images of the show
I've got the Truckster as the vehicle on my Garmin GPS. Complete with empty leash. It doesn't look exactly like the truckster, but when you see it you know it's supposed to be it. http://www8.garmin.com/vehicles/product.html?vName=stationWagon Put your cursor over the car to get more views.
Gawd the truckster almost looks like a modified Ford LTD or Crown Vic. Lots of bling LOL. Dig the first pic with Aunt Edna on the roof rack. It was a funny film, a shame Audrey is dead today.
Truckster I'd like to be able dress up my car as the Truckster for Halloween. Stick on wood panels, a simulated Aunt Edna, and a leash. That would do it for me.
I read somewhere it was a 1980 LTD they used. My first Ford LTD Crown Victoria wagon was a '83 model, with the same inter. color as the one used in the vacation movie. As for Audrey, I was under the impression that it was the European Audrey is the one that had died.
When I had my '77 Country Squire at school for its first Halloween with me, I went to the Salvation Army bought a bunch of luggage, a plastic chair, a dummy, got some water clean up paint (for Honky Lips), and removed all my hubcaps. Then when I went out, I would pull up to random groups of people (mostly college kids) and would ask "How do I get back on the expressway?" or "Anyone hear that squeeking"? Most people got it but there where some of the younger gen that where confused by it. Anyway, it was a blast. Now that I have a green Country Squire.....I might have to do it again.
I saw this thing on the road today. Heading west on hwy 44 (old 66) just SW of St. Louis. It's just as ugly in real time as it is in the pics but interesting to see.
