Hi, I'm new here and wanted to introduce myself. I recently picked up a '76 Eldo wagon. It started out life as a convertible and even has removable t-tops. I just got through redoing much of the interior. Now I'm working on getting the power rear hatch operational again. Trying to find out who built it and any other info I can get. thanks!

Probably should have fixed the hatch before putting in new carpet! :slap:

:Welcome:You might want to introduce yourself in the The Welcome Wagon if you haven't already. That is a very nice station wagon. If I had a convertible here that's what I'd want to do to it. Looks like a lot of hard work.

bought it and a '56 Packard Caribbean convertible from a bank in Florida who had gotten them via a court order from the previous owner who defaulted on a loan. For some reason, they sent them to Mississippi to sell at an equipment auction. I'm afraid the tops might start leaking if I pull them so I haven't done so yet though I've been really tempted to. Waiting for the rest of the work to get finished first.

I had a 1977 Corvette with mirrored T-tops. Removed them once in many years for that reason.

    May I call you 'Beef'?

    Very nice wagon you found!

There have been a number of different Cadillac Eldorado wagon conversions done (just do a Google image search for 'Cadillac Eldorado wagon'). Yours appears to be unique. Others out there use various GM wagon rear sections, but I only found one other one that uses the roof and quarter glass from a GM 'clamshell' wagon, circa '71-'76:

Yours, I must say, has a lot better integrated styling than the red one. Any markings as to who did the conversion?

There are also pics of your wagon on there, most probably from your Flickr page or that of the previous dealer.

    Welcome to the SWF!

Considering what friends paid for a new convertible top....which leaks.... making a Caddy wagon makes sense.
