More on the Mustang Station Wagon

Saw a couple of photos of a Mustang Wagon posted a few weeks ago it got my interest peeked! I googled the New York number plate. This is what I found. Though this probably subject has been beaten to death before.

If you are looking for a Unique Car that really turns Heads.. and draws crowds everywhere you go.. Driving down the road they take Cell phone Pics and Thumbs up..In Car Shows people are really confused ,because such a great job ..looks like a Factory Made Car.others knows the difference and just admire the quality and craftmanship that went into this Unique Car.

 

Seems easy enough to build. But how did the rear glass open? It couldn't slide down the filler neck would be in the way.

 

Maybe it was hinged on top and connected to that 1/2 of a deck lid. There's still an opening between the trunk and the fender which would make me think it could swing up.

 

I went back to ebay and it looks fixed from the inside and outside. Which to me would make it more of a custom than a wagon.

Years ago here in Saskatoon a fella built a 68 mustang wagon. What he used was a Pinto wagon roof and hatch. It just fit naturally to the width of the car. He cut the bottom half of the hatch off and moved the catchup to below the window, so he had a hatchback wagon. He drove it for years around here. By the 90's it disappeared. Heard it got totaled in an accident. It sure looked neat driving around.
So anyone thinking about building one. Look for a Pinto wagon roof I would suggest.

 

I've asked the seller and got is answer:
"The rear window and hatch do not open,, Window can not go down,cause the Gas filler cap is there.and the back does not open... if you move the gas filler and cap to the side. you could have a window that could roll down and hatch could open.. "


He didn't build the car so he's not responsible for what looks stupid to me. A wagon without rear opening !!! :banghead3:

Bidding ended after 25 bid reaching 11,100.00 $. Reserve not met...

 

Sounds like the owner had a problem with it. So in a sense it's a custom car and not a wagon. I guess some people don't know the difference.

 

There was a Mustang "sedan delivery" completed a year or so back and featured in Modified Mustangs and fords that used a Volvo wagon for the rear roof/glass/gate. overall was nicely done, but I couldn't help but feel like I was looking at a Mustang that had been rear ended by a volvo.

There have been many differnt versions of the Mustang wagon done by enthusiasts.

I still like the original concept pitched to FORD in the 60's.
