Went to a show this morning at Ricky and Ronnie's in Torrance, CA. Some of the So Cal Long Roofs were there. They were heading to Huntington Beach after breakfast. I had to split to hit the Long Beach Swap Meet. But there were some real nice rides there. Here are some pix. Mine is in the background of the first shot. All shot by my 10-year-old...interesting vantage point.
dang dawg dem are some dang fine pics,,,,that rambler i have seen all over the place ,,,,internet and magazines ,,,is it as good looking in person as it is in the pics
The Rambler is really something. Welded the rear doors...amazing car. Before my family had a 67 Fairlane wagon, we had a Rambler wagon. But...not quite like THAT.
that Rumblers sweet!!!!!...but whats funny..is that the rarest wagon there is the flatblack 66 Comet villager!! man i wish i'd kept mine...never seen one since or before!!...inperson that is thanx for the pics! and CMP...yours looks amazing...i need to see some 'sun shots' of her
I promise to get some shots of it in the sun shortly. There's a show in Huntington Beach that's supposed to be chock-full of wagons, and I think it's next weekend. We'll see....
Yah, that back Comet wagon is cool. I saw it and immediatly though about you, Rev, and how you would probably sit in your chair in the office there, and think to yourself..."I should never have sold that car". HAHA! And I was right.......I thought the same thing.
Speaking of pix, my son and I hit our usual Saturday morning haunt, Cars and Coffee, an informal gathering of a variety of cars...exotics, ricers, customs, street rods, you name it. Anyway, this was our first visit bringing the Squire since the trim got wrapped up. And Dave Lindsay, who shoots cars at various events and posts them under his SoCal Car Culture deal, took five shots of the car at CandC. Take a look... http://public.fotki.com/wackydave/c...3-01-08-cars--coffee/030108carscoffee021.html --Hal
Holy Crap! I've never seen so many great cars in one place. My car looks like a junker in comparison. The Fairlane is my desktop!
Wow... I LIVE in Orange County, and I've never been over to the C&C - I gotta get there. -- couple of comments / questions: What was that Austin Mini Thingy that was for sale next to yours? That red '65 GTO-amino was nicely done.... Also - let us know about that meet in Huntington Beach. You're not talking about the Donut Derelicts, are you?
Hey, Stormin: Sometimes it's better to lucky than smart; the car came from the factory with that scheme -- and I'm glad it stayed that way. Krash: Yeah, the Mini racer was next to me. And it's got a Honda VTEC 4-pot mounted in the REAR. The Huntington thing this weekend is the Annual Beachcruiser show. Here's a link to the show app: http://www.socalcarculture.com/Images/030808Beachcruisers.pdf BTW, the socalcarculture site has links to shots from previous Beachcruiser shows. Awesome longroofs there! I know about and have been to Donut Derelicts -- I want to check out the Anti-DD thing near that, too, one of these days.
BTW, that GTO-mino is one of the nicest one-offs I've seen. And I'm no GM fan. The guy, Randy is his name I think, is super-nice and tells a great story about how he participated in trying to sell through an El Camino-type variant to the Pontiac brass back then. Obviously, it did not happen. But the car is 90%+ Pontiac -- only the roof and truck bed innerds are Chev as I recall. The rear quarters and tailgate are grafted from a Tempest station wagon. Unbelievable workmanship. He got the wheels about a month or so ago...really finishes it off. I think he needs to put a tri-power set-up on it, too.
