Just wanted to let everyone know that we, mom, daughter and myself, are heading to the UK for a two week vacation. Mom's older sister is turning 90 the day before my birthday so we are going to party. Mom's younger sister, by 15 years, is putting us up and has been busy planning our itinerary. From what I've seen so far she has and over night trip to London and a beach planned. Road trips to Wales, Stonehenge and a couple of castle tours are also planned. It's all very exciting. My daughter has never flown before and is really looking forward to the experience. Well I just wanted to give you a heads up that I'll away for a couple of weeks. We head out tomorrow night. Be nice and stay save.
You do realize it's called the World-Wide Web for a reason, right? RIGHT? Buy a couple voltage converters, and post pics! We want pics!
When I go to nice places, I make it a point to leave my other personalities at home. When flying over historic Lockerbie Scottland or visit spooky castles, they seem to show up again, as if they stowed away in a suitcase or something Ninety year olds can be fun to party with. Especially, when the fun's at their expense
Damn straight. When I was in Perth, Western Australia, it was like being in any city in British Columbia, but everyone was on the opposite side of the road. So, it's "right-left-right" before crossing the road.
We had a neighbor when I was a kid who had spent time in Australia. He told a story of how he got in a wreck the first day he was there because he forgot which side of the road he was supposed to drive on.
When I used to work at a London bus garage, it was scary, when I had to park a bus. I wasn't used to having most of the vehicle left of me. If that wasn't a recipe for a crash, I don't know what is. It was bad enough, when I had my own normal car, over there. When I was a kid, they used to deliver mail with some sort of odd Jeep type small vehicle which had the steering wheel on the right side. I always wanted one of those, not only because they had the Iron Duke in there. I could imagine that it wouldn't be difficult to get used to one of those, in a country where they drive on the proper, uhhh, excuse me, right side of the road
Not just the Jeeps but Studebaker had built small delivery vans with right-hand drive. And the obligatory Jeep/AM General DJ: Imagine driving that Studie around London!
I'm baaaacck. It was fantastic. Crossing the road in London was tricky and OMG the traffic. My aunt and uncle did all the driving so no worries there. I'm really tired, pictures will follow but not today. Talk soon
