This forum has been tolerant and patient with me to let me log all the details of my restoration, but I got to thinking that if the Insurance company wants me to see an appraiser, he's going to low-ball the value unless I've got documentation of what went into the car for strictly restoration purposes. I've heard of some commercial insurance companies sending their customers to an appraiser to get it valued and paying out $150 or $200 for the result. If you've got documentation and receipts, and an estimate of your time, then the guy could give a more valid appraisal. I'll have to check here to see if its an option under our Provincial (and Only) insurance company's rules. Regardless, wouldn't it be a useful thing for everyone to have a project diary on the Forum, in a separate area? I get embarrassed when I come to the board and see my posts in so many areas of the project. But I know other folks are offering their experience and knowledge to move it ahead, so I can live with my queasy grimaces. It might make it less cluttered, but maybe cluttered is ok too! Just a thought.
Norm, you did a great job of keeping us updated on your project. If enough people want such a section, ill add it.
Thanks Stefan. I'm going to print those threads out and put it in a binder anyway. If I ever get the nerve to do this again (another Fairmont, Zephyr or TBird's Cougar wagon), then I'll have my own 'Shop Manual', only next time in a garage!
