It's not a wagon, but it's pretty cool...my newest project!

For a while now, I have been thinking about building a street rod.
I wanted to build a Pontiac, since I am such a Poncho fan....

But I have several friends who have "been there, done that" and they all advised me to stick with a mainstream car ( that means Ford ) if I ever hope to get my money back.

So, in an unusually obedient mood, I checked out CL for some project material.

I found an ad for this:

1932 Ford, 350 SBC, TH350 auto, tilt wheel, digital dash, cruise control. It was being sold by the widow of the man who built the car in the late 1980's.

I went to look at it and ended up buying it!

It needs TLC (wiring is a little scary, the brakes are spongy and I REALLY don't like the red digital dash), but it's in the garage and I'm having fun!

"State of the art" digital dash with red bar gauges and tach...from 1986:

    Much TLC required...

Here it is, loaded up for the trip home:

    Thanks, KK!

    Everybody that's seen it...loves it.
My daughters can't get over how "cute" it is.

    Tomorrow is "brakes" day.
Can't wait to take it on its maiden voyage around the neighborhood!

I think it's going to keep that 350 SBC; easy to work on, easy to get parts and I am familiar & comfortable with these engines.

It DEFINITELY will be getting some analog gauges. I'll probably use Stewart Warner; I have almost a complete set that came out of another project car.

At some point, I'll have to choose between making a set of "stake truck" panels for the sides and rear of the bed or swapping over to a proper pick-up box, but that decision is WAY down the road.

For now, I'm focused on getting it to be a safe and dependable driver.

That, and trying to find a set of the proper diameter headlights. The lamps that you see on it now are only 7" diameter; I like the "original" look better, with the 10" diameter headlights.

You have all ways showed good judgment with your wagon mods, your GTO, so I'm sure what ever you decide will come out looking great.

It's your truck but personally I'd leave it a cool flat bed of some sort, seems you just don't see as many done like that. How ever and sorry I have to say it.....I think the flat deck on it is fugly:oops:, it just doesn't go with the truck in my eyes mainly the lites/bumper.........

    But for some inspiration ideas......

Spent most of the day in the garage...
Changed the oil, wiped off all the grime on the frame and cross-members, cleaned up some of the wiring and got the passenger headlight working correctly (bad ground).

I was able to confirm that the brakes work, but the pedal is very spongy. I plan to bleed the brakes tomorrow, as well as draining all the cold gas out of the tank and blowing out the lines. It runs, but it will occasionally sputter and stall...I'm guessing the fuel lines and filter are partially full of sediment.

    This is so much fun!
