Yeah...well...I love these wagons, Fat, and I love this one. BUT...as you say, AND the rockers look loaded too. If the guy had it for sale and not on Ebay I would go look to make sure. But...I feel pretty certain I'm right about this one.

I would be surprised if a 50 year old car didn't have some bondo on it somewhere. I see what you guys are talking about with the rocker / quarter area looking a little 'thick' - maybe some mud there. Ad says, though.. "This is not a rust bucket."Only way to tell for sure is to inspect it in person. To me, car looks pretty good for being that old. The fact that it's a '59 Dodge and not a Ford or a Chevy, plus it has some rare equipment make it that much more desireable to me.

Ad to me sounds like it's a new seller - says "bought 45 days ago....." Also doesn't mention whether it's a 6 or 9 passenger. Chrysler Co's wagons of this vintage were, I believe, the first to have rear-facing third seats (starting in '57).

The wagon may not be perfect, but it gives you a real sound base to start from, that's for sure.

    Iraq....again, for now.
The seller did just recently purchase it, he is on another forum I frequent and he posted pics of it and seemed excited about it. He has found himself overwhelmed with too many projects as his ad states. He didn't even expect to win the original bid so he was a little surprised and posted about winning it with an off the wall impulse bid. He is a MOPAR freak and has a very nasty Viper coupe that is one of his main toys.

Some bondo. Sure, KK, I agree. But this car looks like it has a load of it to me. I see areas where whoever did it didn't even try to hide it. Not a rust bucket underneath in areas doesn't mean the whole bottom sheet metal hasn't been filled. If the car was worth saving it was worth welding up metal on it and not thickly sculpting it with bondo that will eventually crack away. I see large areas here on this car not just small "spots". The only reason that I point out things I notice on cars is because I would hate to see someone buy a sculpted car thinking it was a perfect survivor only to have pieces of it begin to fall out after awhile. I'm NOT saying that THIS seller is dishonest. He just bought the car. And he SHOWS the areas of fill. Still, if a member here did NOT see the fill around the bottom of a car and bought it.....well....I'd feel guilty if I had seen it and not mentioned it. A paint job can hide a multitude of sins on a car. Perhaps, in future cars for sale, I should just refrain from mentioning negative issues that I see.

SF you have done nothing wrong, it's sharp eyes that catches this stuff that help us out. BTW we have some bondo artist here in NC. I met one fellow who did a 67 Plymouth wagon looked great but I would not buy it.He told me he bought it from WVA and could not find body panels for it so he used 4 gallons of bondo to patch all the rust that was in the car. He is planning on flipping it for a profit.I have a feeling it will backfire on him at some point because a collector will catch it and spread the word. I told him he needed to join our forums and with our network he could have found what he needed. He didn't care, all he is looking for is a quick profit and someone who is just getting into our hobby who knows very little will come along and buy it.And when they find all the bondo, they will sell it for parts or junk it and leave our hobby with a sour taste in their mouth

Thanks, SS. I've known guys that did the same thing. They were VERY good at it and could sculpt whole missing areas. Of course, it would fail the magnet test miserably. I just know this car is like that. The guy was kind enough to SHOW prospective buyers. The only reason I bring these types of cars to the forefront is to save someone their hard earned cash. I've been around a long time and hung with some of the best and worst car builders. I've built nine or so cars myself. I also know that there are guys on Ebay like the ones you have described here. There are also honest people. An experienced eye can separate them.

I have a friend who is a DYNAMITE body man. I've seen him cut the bottom third of the body right out of a car, weld in new pieces that he FABRICATED and use very little filler. He did that to a car that he is still driving and the car looks brand new. He did the car 28 years ago!

Yup...saw that truck before, SS. Darn nice 'ol Ford truck. You should be a proud owner of that rig. Looks like a minimal job to get that looking perfect. They're all hard work with lots of time involved though.

You should see inside of the bed. all rust except the wheelwell. going to cut it all out and make a wooden floor for it like the old trucks had.

Not faulting you for mentioning the problems at all, Mike. I'm just approaching it from a different viewpoint. If this were a Chevy, you could see the thick filler and pass on it to go on to another. Even with the bondo problems this one has, it may be hard to find another Dodge this nice......
