Hello to everyone out there who has a passion for station wagons. This is my introduction to Station Wagon Forums and please feel free to contact me or talk about any station wagon related items. I currently own a beautiful, original condition 1971 Chevy Kingswood. Still has original factory paint with 65,000 original miles. 350 2 barrel, 3 speed auto transmission, air conditioning and the very cool clam shell tail gate that operates like it was new. I will post pictures at a later date. Hope to hear from you soon! WAGON KING
Welcome aboard! How can anybody only drive a nice wagon like that for only 1,710 miles a year (65K /38 years)?!?! Sounds like a fine car.
Low milkage for sure! O.K., here's the background on this wagon. Elderly couple owned this and only drove it in warmer seasons and never in Winter, and always kept under roof. They spent alot of time in Florida and never put many miles on this wagon when up in the Midwest. I couldn't believe it myself but when I looked at engine compartment, frame and interior. The low milage was confirmed. Frame still has original finish with no rust issues at all. This car runs and handles like the day it was rolled-off the dealers lot. Some very minor surface rust areas, no biger than a dime at best, and of course some nicks and scratches. I've decided to keep it original paint as most cars of this era have at least (1) re-paint. Glass is all good. Dash pad has cracks, but no big deal as I have a dash cover that will fix this cosmetic issue. The rest of interior is in excellent shape with no tears or rips on any seating or carpet areas. I'll post pictures and you can make your own decission. Anyway, the purpose of me joining this forum is not to talk about my car so much, but to help anyone with possible issues that I have run across in the years I have been dealing with station wagons. I've owned more Mopars that GM's. I might still have a 1968 luggage rack from a Fury wagon, I'll have to check on that if someone has interest in it. WAGON KING
From one Clamshell fan to another, Similar to you, I too was quite fortunate in my wagon find. I purchased it from the original owner (IL, in fact) who took amazingly good care of it. How long have you had yours? How often do you drive it? Can't wait to see
Welcome Wagon King! I sure can't wait to see your amazing 71 Kingswood. You must feel lucky to have found such a great wagon in cared-for, original condition. Glad a guy that appreciates these wonderful vehicles got ahold of it. :2_thumbs_up_-_anima I look forward to seeing pics. David

1971 Chevy Kingswood Pictures I just uploaded 3 pics of my wagon located at Gallery / Chevrolet. Key words are 1971, Kingswood, Chevy. Your thoughts? More pictures coming soon. Putting wagon away for hibernation this weekend as it is getting cold and weather is starting to turn ugly. This is one wagon that will stay dry and salt free this comming Winter season. WAGON KING
You'd be crazy not to. Looks like it has been really well preserved and would be a shame to start degenerating it now.
Hey Wagon King, I really wished I had the money to bid on your lovely Kingswood. I am suprised it didn't go higher, seeing how nice and original it is. I had it on my watch list and looked at it over and over, wishing I could own it. Good it will be safely put away for the cold and salty winter months. :2_thumbs_up_-_anima http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1971...ewItemQQptZUS_Cars_Trucks?hash=item1c0e2cdf32 I love the color, and will be painting my Buick what I believe is the same color - dark blue metallic code #28. This wagon is CLEAN! I have seen it up and close, I have NEVER seen one this clean and original. He and his son had come by a few times when I was at work, good folks. I wish I had my digital camera with me when I had my '78 Country Squire at work with me, could have taken some nice shots of the two together.
That's great that we added another member to the clamshell crew! That sucker is ssssswwwwweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeetttttttttttttttttttttt!!!!!!!!!!!!!
