Hey all, it is i! and i was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on what to do for an intake, i want a higher flow, but nobody makes anything for my vehicle, and was wondering of you had and suggestions on a good brand of cone filter? not K&N, too expensive and lets in too much dirt (escort cosworth test...:banghead3 but iuno, any suggestions on what/how? Thanks
It's an article on different Ford Small Block setups, but it might give you a few ideas. http://www.jason.fletcher.net/tech/turbo/turbo.htm Or convert you to a Ford.
I have a CHEVY 3.1 L v6 with MPFI... chevy ... a gun to my head couldn't convert me to ford... except a really old ford, or a 5.0 mustang...
What's 'MPFI'? There's so many FI systems. Well, you get a Fairmont Wagon and put a fiberglass Mustang 5.0 front end on it. There's hope for you yet.
Izzy, I would think twice on using a cone filter. This often means you will have it in the engine bay, which increases the temperature of the air being used by the engine and will actually cancel the flow improvement. Or you have to have a special place to suck cold air from (you could always go to Norman in the winter, as I understood, he really sucked a lot of cold air during his project!!). I would go with an aftermarket filter for the stock filter box and intake system on your car. As you don't like K&N you could go for Green, they seem to have a good rep. Even though my car is completely different, I will go with one myself. Just my 2cents...
Izzy I hate to trll you this but I don't believe there is anything out there for your car. Keep a eye out in ebay maybe you will get lucky
I know nothing about chevies, but I don't think an intake alone would make much difference without a matching cam to take advantage of it.
Multi-port Fuel Injection. MPFI Tuned-port Fuel Injection. TPFI Fuel Injection. FI Central Fuel Injection. CFI (similar to a carb setup) Electronic Fuel Injection. EFI All manufacturers call them different names. Very confusing sometimes.
Actually there may be an increase in milage (1-2 MPG) and small increase in power. With the TPFI the mass airflow sensor will adjust to the new flowing air and the computer will compensate. Stock filters are pretty restrictive. However, it's common to lose milage because you actually notice the difference and there's a tendancy to floor it more often.
