I have a 62 Facon sedan delivery with the 170 six. The stock gauges do not work so I want to install aftermarket gauges. Can I install these in the stock locations on the engine ? Thanks

Yes, you should be able to install the water and oil hookups in the stock locations. Will your oil gauge be mechanical or electrical? If mechanical, do not use nylon line, use copper or aluminum, so you don't end up with an oily mess inside the car, let alone all over the engine and hot exhaust. The ammeter, I assume, is not working either? You could rewire the circuit to be a voltmeter gauge, if you plan on installing one.

Thanks for the info. The ammeter is an idiot light that works. I would like to have a voltmeter . Could you help me with rewiring the circuit ? I have never dealt with an ammeter. Thanks again.

Are you still using the stock generator or has it been updated with an alternator?

I'd have to find a wiring diagram; and hey, this would also be a good time to update the charging system to an alternator and solid-state voltage regulator.

Stock generator , I will check into the alternator . I think that may not be in my budget at this time . I have to buy tires as the ones on it are weathercracked. Thanks

Ran into a bigger problem. Mechanical temp bulb will not fit into stock sensor hole . Too big. Maybe an electric gauge will work.

Alternators don't necessarily have to be new items

Any mounting bracket for an inline 6-cylinder Ford and, of course, the alternator. Ford alternators were built by their Autolite division. Later models had internal regulators. These are the easiest for conversions, since with those, you can simply by-pass the external regulators

It would be helpful, if you were to show us photos of what's involved

Are both your gauges mechanical? These days, people do electric gauges. Better warranties, and better vibration resistance. As for alternators, you can get used ones from junkyards, but if you decide on an internal regulator alternator, you'll need to do some research. As for the ammeter, I still have yet to find a wiring diagram. Your SD is a '61?
