Just purchased a 2006 FORD Freestyle.
It's exactly what my wife and I have been looking for. We have been wanting to upgrade to a wagon with 3rd row seating. As has been discussed many times before, there aren't alot of options out there that fit that description. The Freestyle was high on our list. This particular car has low miles, 86,000 and still feels, looks and smells like a new car. It's a Limited, so it has more bells and whistles than anything else we've ever owned. We have only had it for a few days, but so far we are very happy with it.

At least it looks like a wagon. I kinda wished we'd bought something more wagoney instead of an Impala.
All those bells and whistles scare me! I need blue tooth, three garage door buttons, and a radio that talks to me with controls on the steering wheel like another hole in my butt!;)

Looks nice. A couple of guys at work have them and have me do repair work on them. Keep an eye on the CVT trans and the drive by wire throttle body if it starts giving you issues (the ominous service wrench light will light up). They also seem to run through rear brakes faster than normal, but not at an alarming rate. Most of the people on myfordfreestyle.com do not appear to be overly tech savvy so if you need tech advice you might want to check out the 500/Taurus boards.

If you can return it I HIGHLY suggest you do. With the miles you have on that you can expect TRANSMISSION problems. You should of done an on-line search. NOTHING BUT TRANS problems on these. When it starts making a helicopter noise BE PREPARED! We Got a REALLY NICE one in and it had the "Trans Problem" beautiful ride and not high miles from a FORD DEALER! They could of sold this for very good money and they actually had an IN HOUSE trans shop! Replacement transmissions are virtually impossible to find. And rebuilds are 2600 and UP! Generally with no guarantee. From what I gathered this trans prob was the reason they quit making these and when they quit making them they quit making any replacement parts. Should of been recalled for it and never were.

I was going to buy the one we got in and passed simply because of research done.

    Good luck

    Smelly

As far as I know you can not return a vehicle once you sign a million places. Altho where I bought it says you can return it up to three days. I've always wondered, does that mean I could have gotten my truck back?
I'm sure it would cost a lot just to un-deal! After all we already ate the free popcorn!:slap:

still feels, looks and smells like a new car.:rednose:

I bought a 2014 Impala, exactly one year old. Just realized it DOES NOT smell new.
Also when did cars stop having an ash tray or cigarette lighters?
The Impala does have three "3" 12V type outlets for computer crap but none with a lighter.

All well and good. I've always used the ash trays for change for parking meters. There don't seem to be parking meters or phone booths either and I rarely have any money!:p

But it does have beer can holders front and rear!:pub::drink:

Word I read was the Impala is a decent dependable popular car. But I've been lied to before!:naughty:
For some reason I narrowed mine down to the Malibu or Impala from 2013 to 2014. Mostly for low mileage and half what a new one sells for. Also cheaper than many other look alike cars. I'll admit it looks like a Ford, Kia, Mercury, Buick, Honda, etc.:rofl2: But it doesn't smell.

Thanks, We're really happy with it. My wife loves the color too.

We took it on a trip this weekend. Did great pulling the hills fully loaded with all of our gear, including a cartop carrier. It got great fuel economy too.

I don't know how it is, but it does indeed still "Smell like a new car" but I'm certain it won't last long with the two boys and the dog. Either way, we're pleased and I'm happy to have another wagon.

Just came back from shopping. I was smelling all the way and still didn't notice any new car or even used car smell.
I do remember the older cars and that special smell they had. Maybe that's an extra charge. I need to check the gaurantee.

Do Fords and Chevys smell the same? What does a Honda car smell like?

    Cross over?

Isn't that a crossover? It looks like a station wagon, but it's not got a third row seat like my 93 Roadmaster.

Freestyles have three rows of seats, but they are all forward facing.
