We survived but there was a LOT of wind in Va Beach. I lost the top half of one of my trees but, having already moved my daily driver to the other side, nothing hit the Ford wagon at the top of the driveway. the top half is hanging over the driveway. So at 1230 last night I pulled the cover and moved the wagon....just in case. Our thoughts and prayers are with those folks in Florida and Georgia hit by the full force of Hurricane Michael. God bless!
Agreed.... It's hard to imagine the severity of a hurricane if you've never lived in that area. Weather professionals are indicating that with global warming, we're going to see even more of these types of storms. It's also going to change things for us here in the PNW. What I've heard is that in the fall-winter-spring months, there will be less snow, but MORE rain. More chance of flooding in those circumstances.
A) Jim Cantore of the Weather Channel nearly got speared by a 2X4 live on air, but for his movement 1 second before it flew by; B) we had tons of rain and not much snow during the late Seventies, and we got through it, but now, the population exploded in the Eighties and Nineties, and I could see the rationale of water rationing then.
No, I actually was talking about Western Washington, back in the very late Eighties. We had water rating ning due to low snowpacks for a handful of years. Even though we've had record snow the last couple decades, the next time the weather turns to just rain, I think we're screwed.
I don’t know about where you are but where I am the weather professionals rarely get it right. For instance we were supposed to have a 90% chance of rain last night and this morning and the only water I see is morning dew! I’m more worried about the volcano in yellow stone that erupts every 600,000 years and last eruption was 599,000 years ago. Wtf do they tell us this crap anyways?! Glad my southern neighbors and they’re cars are well!......for now
They hedge their bets. It's better to predict something that doesn't come, than to not predict the meteorological equivalent of several kicks where it really hurts.
