I took my Vista Cruiser on the Power Tour this year after five years of saying I would next year. There were more wagons than I expected to see. I didn't see any other Vistas, but there were a couple of Buick Sport Wagons. The Vista made the 3000+ miles on the tour and back with no real problems. I wish I had had time to do something about the carburetor. It was constantly bogging or stalling when I needed to accelerate quickly. I also really wish I had been able to get someone else to go along with me for the ride.
Did you do the whole trip? My son and I went to the Muskegon stop. I don't recall seeing your car, but it was soooooo spread out it was hard to see the whole field...especially with a 4 y/o in tow.
I wanted to make a couple stops on the tour but started a new job 3 days before the tour was coming through. Maybe next year.
----------:banghead3:I forgot all about the tour going thru Gainesville! Took our wagon many years back. FUN ! --I would have went with you in a minute! Always more fun when not alone.
I did go the entire distance. I was parked probably four blocks from the main venue in Muskegon. There were spectators parked closer. They finally posted images of the Long Haulers on the Hot Rod site. http://image.hotrod.com/f/31695344/hrpt-1106-long-hauler-photos-2496.jpg
Adrian: That's a crime, longhauling alone in that big wagon (very nice, too)! Congrats on making it without any serious trouble. You're a hero. I would've loved riding shotgun...
I,m envious of you Power Tour guys. I was suppose to go with my buddy but he tripped over the dog, hit the creeper and dang near broke his neck.
Why do I never hear about these things?? What's the route of this tour and what time of year does it usually happen??
They have a different route each year. They typically start from where they ended the previous year. That would dictate that Detroit would be the starting point next year. They always start the weekend after Memorial Day. They've actually been up in Wisconsin a few times. I think in 2004 they ended it at Lambeau. I know they were there in 2007 and a couple of years ago as well. If you are a car guy it is pretty much the ultimate. The variety and quality of cars is simply amazing.
OH NO! I was wondering why everytime I cut myself 10-W-30 drips out! I don't think it's cureable either! It only hurts when I go to a swap meet!
