My girlfriend of 4 years has been very accepting of my car fetish. In the past 4 years she's seen a '65 T-Bird (she won't let me sell it), a '41 Plymouth coupe come and go, a '52 Dodge come and go, a '95 Astro van (to haul band gear) and now the '87 Caprice wagon, (not to mention 3 different mtorcycles). She has never been a fan of wagons but didn't put up much of a fuss about me buying it. I don't know about you but when I get a new toy I have to "personalize it" so I start looking online at other "like" vehicles for inspiration. So there I am saying "honey, how do you like these wheels?" "How about THIS color?"....you know the routine. And of course she just says "yea" or "it's ok". What should I expect, she's not really in to wagons. But last night something happened. Some how the wagon came up and she said "I think we should get an older wagon, like 50s or 60s". EEEERRRRRK! went my brain. What did she just say? I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Later I pulled out the laptop and started showing her pics I had downloaded of various wagons (what, doesn't everyone do this?). I said tell me when you see one you like. She picked out several, mostly with slanted rear windows. She seemed to favor GMs but she did point out a couple of Mopars too. So I guess the moral of the story is, don't ever give up, eventually anyone can be brought over to the dark side.
In days of olde, the ladies always went for guys who rode their horsepower with pride. The gal has good taste. A keeper.
I think God was a jokester. He made the gals so attractive to hide the complexity underneath. Just when you think you've got them figured out, they change from cutie, to mom, to Pre-MS then Post-MS and every mood in between. Now, us guys, we're predictable - Cars and Women.
.......to borrow a great smiley from another post (I love this little guy - the post, not the poster, not that he's probably a nice guy but you know what I mean)
It's obvious to me that you have found a VERY intelligent woman there who is trying to show her appreciation for things that interest you. Perhaps she is just trying to suggest cars that are classics and maybe have some sentimental value to her...did you ask....hmmmm...maybe. Well, that and she can't carry much back from the mall on a bike and the Astro van is for band gear...do you have any idea would much stuff will fit in the back of a wagon???
