The vehicle in the attached photo was my father's service vehicle that he used in the mid 1950s. He tended to favor Chevrolets so it wouldn't surprise me to learn that that's what it is. Can anyone identify the year, make and model?

That's a '53 Ford Ranch Wagon, or possibly a Courier (sedan delivery, with windows)

Thanks for the quick response. Based on searches that appears to be correct.

Welcome Don and JJW.:welcomewagon: Yes, 1953 Ford Ranchwagon. Wouldn't it be nice to build one just like your fathers wagon?

The big "Philco" on the side might have been a hint. :D

They don't make many Philco's now days.

At least back then I could remember phone numbers.

Hicksville, Ohio. So damned small, there was only one exchange, it had no name, and the phone number was 37. I bet his dad had to pay Ma Bell extra to make that a single line and not a party one.

I remember when you'd call a place a hick town and the hicks got mad. That place in Ohio was proud to be a hick town.
Which reminds me, a few miles from us, across the river, is OLD TOWN. When Old Town was new why did they call it Old Town?
Old Town was actually an Indian settlement across from the fort, Ft Fanning, which is next to Fanning Springs, a first magnatude spring.
Another Old Town is also a tourist trap and large car show destination near Kissimmee, Florida and Dizzy World.
Where phone numbers are longer and Philco TV's are rare. But an occasioanl 53 Ford Ranch wagon can be spotted, mixed with people from all over the world, rednecks, and hicks.

Just saw a Philco for sale recently on CL. Last night at the monthly cruise-in someone brought a 55 Ford Customline wagon riding on late model Mustang wheels. Had a small For Sale sticker, but no info. Nicely done interior (leather?), and I think fuel injected engine.

I have a 1950's Grundig Majestic AM/FM/SW radio that works I listed it on Craigslist for a year and only got a few nibbles.
    $50 was my asking price.

The Philco dealer in Hicksville might buy it, or at lest be able to check it out for you. Just call #37 in Ohio.
