Been lurking around the forums for a few weeks and thought I'd introduce myself. I grew up in Norway during the 80s and 90s and strangely enough my family had an 82 Electra Wagon back then. Lots of great memories in the rear facing seat and in the middle upfront staring up at that beautiful dash! The wagon was sold when I was around 8, but I've admired the GM box woodie wagons ever since. Long story short, just bought an 84 Electra out of Atlanta, Georgia with 51 k miles. It is a very well optioned car and everything works. Only thing that really needs attention is the wood on the tailgate. Had a college buddy fly in and drive it down to our family's winter home in Southwest Florida a couple of weeks ago. I'll keep it down there for a year and a half and will ship it to Norway in 2014 when I can import it as a vintage car and avoid outrageous import taxes. I'm headed out to Florida in 3 weeks and I'm about as excited as a kid in a candy store to check it out in person! Let me know what you think!
NICE CAR! We had an '86 Electra wagon. Dad bought it new and we had it until 1993. Silver over silver interior. Your car brings back a lot of memories! Welcome and good luck with the new toy! -Mike
Welcome to the forum, N. Wood. Very nice Electra you found. Odd that the wood on the sides is fine but the tailgate is bad. My guess is that it was parked in a carport for extended periods, with the back end exposed to the sun and elements. It could be a bit difficult to locate matching Di-Noc. Check out out 'woodgrain' sub-section in the restoration area. Marshall
Hey norway welcome from canadas left coast.that sure is a clean wagon. I would love to store my wagon in europe and visit and tour once or twice a year. Hell i wouldnt mind storing a car in florida and touring the lower states once or twice a year. My dad lives in showlow arizona maybe i should leave a car there.
from NW Florida. Nice wagon----------------- I wouldn't mind storing that wagon in NW Florida and driving it a few times each year! Where you going, Nipples ?
Just think though wouldnt it be cool to explore europe from the comfort of your sofa i mean front seat of your favorite classic american station wagon too cool
Mind you i dont know about driving down the other side of the road in a left hand drive full size american station wagon. Just about every car over there are miniture compared to ours and towns have very narrow roads. Thats another thought it allways bugged me to see right hand drive cars driving with little mirrors down our roads. I think thats dangerous. Especially with the skills drivers have today...scary stuff
Welcome to the madness Norway! As a resident of the Atlanta area, I can attest to the fact that the under carriages of our vehicles don't tend to show any rust if properly cared for as we rarely have any icy roads here. Your wagon looks like it might be pretty rust free underneath.
Norwegianwood, glad you came out of the dark and joined us in the light. Awesome looking wagon. Keep us posted with your Florida trip.
