Hi - I'm Suzanne from Flagstaff, AZ. We have two wagons - Mine - a 1965 Rambler Ambassador 990 Cross Country Website: http://www.1965Rambler.weebly.com) And a 1972 Jeep Wagoneer, which belongs to our son. I realize the Waggie might not seem like a station wagon, but we always considered it one - just a big, beefy one that Mom could use to go off roading. (website: http://www.1972Wagoneer.weebly.com) Both have been in my family since they were new. My husband and I are doing a total "redo" of the Rambler - it's mostly stock. The Wagoneer is an unrestored car.
Thanks! We hope to have the Rambler done by next summer. The drivetrain is in, but there are no seats and parts of the body are off. It didn't stop me from driving it up and down our road a few times however! After 20 years, it was GREAT.We are trying to do as much of it ourselves as we can - which is interesting. I see you are in Ridgecrest - I grew up in Bishop, just up the hill from you.
Welcome, Suzanne. We certainly welcome you and your 2 wagons. Yes, the Wagoneer certainly is a station wagon. We like to get something different here now and then. I'm sure there's a few of us who have has some experience with them. I know there's a company back in the midwest somewhere (or is it Colorado?) that rebuilds those Wagoneers from the ground up and sells them for a small fortune..... Marshall
Suzanne. Wasn't there ah song 'bout ah Lil' Nash Rambler racin' ah Caddy way back when? Something 'bout not bein' able tah get the Rambler out ah 2nd gear at 120+? :2_thumbs_up_-_anima You'll like it here:banana:
to the wagon train, Suzanne. Nice intro and pix. Those are nice AMC rigs....I like the amby but I also always liked the waggies. Except they rusted real bad here in the rust belt and drank lots of gas. Still, I had a couple on my lot and drove one of my own. They are a plush ride. Glad you found us.
Thanks for the welcomes! The Little Nash Rambler Song (warning - it gets stuck in your head) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o1c4QZGQw5o Wagoneers aren't too hard to find out here - but back where you are they are prone to rust as so many were winter rats. Stock ones are getting rare. There is a nice forum of FSJ (full sized Jeeps). http://www.ifsja.org/forums/vb/ We've had a ton of fun with the Wag this year.
Here you go - the only probelms - it's has tranny probs (might not be a problem for you if you can rebuild them) and it's near Phoenix. BUT it probably doesn't have much tin worm. http://prescott.craigslist.org/cto/1970323210.html
That looks like a NICE wag for the money! If it's a good runner (likely a 360) it's well worth that price even WITH the tranny out. Don't see those like that around this part of the country!
Some had the 258, but they are pretty rare. It's worth WAY more than the sale price just in parts. SIlverfox - growing older stinks sometimes, but it's better than the alternative. I passed the mid-century mark myself this year.
