I go by Pastor Bubba on my car sites and yes I am a real pastor in the ELCA. I have been around cars all my life with my dad raising me on AMC. So since I am AMC, I prefer Nash, Hudson and AMC and currently have one of each. I have a 40 Nash Lafayette that I call the Black Sheep. I am hot rodding it and it will have a 383 stroker which is why I call her the black sheep because I was raised to hate Chevy. My Hudson is a 55 Metropolitan and my AMC is a 69 AMX former drag car that is street legal. The car that fits in with this site is my dad's 51 Nash Rambler station wagon. It has about a 79ish 258 under the hood. The frame is a Ford Courier pickup and he put a Ford 9" in it. My dad just turned 80 and he is no longer comfortable driving the car and so I will be buying it sometime this year when my folks move to their condominium. I will be taking it back home once a year for his church's car show so that he can enjoy it there. So I guess I have a wagon coming, but decided to see if there are any wagon sites tonight before I actually had it.
Welcome aboard! I always had a thing for those early Nash-Rambler wagons. I came close to buying one several years ago. They are very difficult to find. It was lowered, stock engine, great body and no interior. Putting a full frame underneath is the way to go. What a cool wagon....good luck with it. I'd love to see more pics of it. I saw one in a car museum in Minnesota several years back. It was completely stock, burgundy/ maroon with the original woodgrain finish around the window area. They sit high with stock suspension.
My dad traded for this one. If I remember correctly, he gave a couple of old toys, a plane and a truck, along with a case of beer. The floor was gone and it was missing some other things as well but he also found a two door parts car that had his missing pieces. I will get some other pics of it once I get back to Iowa. Thanks for the welcome.
Welcome aboard PastorBubba. You are certainly doing the Lord's work keeping those AMC/Nash/Ramblers on the road. I'm glad you found us. Keep us updated on the bathtub.
You finally were guided to the right place. You have some nice junk and most of us are interested in anything on wheels. I had an uncle who owned several Ramblers of various body styles. As most, you have only one terrible problem and we will do our best to help you find a cure. Even with the best up bringings some are raised wrong. I love all cars but I have a special love of Chevys!
Yeah, I enjoy all cars too but enjoy giving a little grief to the chevy people. The guy who is teaching me to build engines is a huge chevy guy and he gave me the block and some other parts for the 383 stroker which is why that is going in the Nash and so he keeps telling me that I have one decent motor. I am building my second 401 now and tell him that he is finally seeing the light and I'm converting him to AMC since he has had more AMC motors come out of his garage over the last year. Thank you all for the welcome.
I too love all classic cars, but also tend to lean towards one particular marque. That said, as I have grown older and been around the hobby, my appreciation for cars (and trucks for that mater) that are a little off the beaten path has also grown. I like the unique, and AMC in general fits that to a T.
