I am Ryan. I have been into wagons since I could drive (10yrs now). I live in ks and work on a farm. I used to be a Porsche/VW/Audi/BMW/Mercedes tech, but that got old. I now just tinker in my garage. I have had a lot of hotrod German cars, here are a couple of my old cars... 88 vw golf 1984 vw drag bunny My Daily Driver was a 1984 Volvo 240 Wagon, unfortunatly this is the only pic I have of it. I hit a suburban at about 65 that was sitting still on the highway. I was the only one in the car, and I only got a scratch on my head. I had just rebuilt all of the suspension and it was running better than ever. It really got to me, and it was a couple of years before I got another wagon. I then bought my 850. That is my current wagon, but I am trying to convince the wife to let me buy a 92 Roadmaster. I love those cars. Anyways, thanks for listening to my rant, and what a cool site!!
Welcome to the forums, Dude. Sorry to hear of your smooshed Volvo...glad you're all right. About 15 years ago, I was hit by a drunk driver and trashed my 88 Cougar, which I had just bought 4 weeks prior. The only pictures I have of that car are the after-accident pictures. Hopefully, you'll get your Roadmaster wagon. Enjoy the forums.
Ryan. Great taste in cars! I had a VW Cabriolet. Made you feel like Jason Bourne in the Mini-Minor! Fun cars. The plate on the 1958 wagon looks like our Manitoba plates. Looks like a neat project. Have a good time here. We're only slightly nuts, and a couple of us rattle around like loose stovebolts, but we're harmless.
to the board!! I just sold my 68 Squareback...and my 58 Yeoman a couple years ago..and i ve had a few Voovoo wagons over the years(mostly 80's) were pretty diversified here
I just got pics of the Roadmaster.... I think I am gonna pass, and try and get a rambler instead. I am gonna post it in the for sale section, so maybe someone else can get the Buick.
Welcome to the group. Sorry about that accident but atleast you are ok. The back end of that 58 Chevy Brookwood looks sweet. I love how clean and swoppy it is. Very nice for a wagon.
Welcome to the boards Ryan. I understand the Volvo "thing", I have had 5 240 series since I could drive, I had also worked for Volvo as a tech from 1998-2004. And to top that off, I am a crash survivor from two of them. I was rear ended by a dump truck that lost its brakes, he was unloaded and hit me at about 50mph, I walked away from the crash. I only had some very minor scratches from flying glass. Here where some of the ones I had. I don't have any pictures of my '81 wagon, nor of my '79 wagon, but they are twins of what I had. This was my '83 model (never should have sold it but college came first), I got for $50 as you see it in the picture. I worked on the car for about three years at a local Volvo dealer. I gave the owner my name and number so when he was ready to sell, to let me know. He got a job trans, he has to leave in a week.....didn't want to futz with the Volvo and I got a deal of a life time..... And this is what got me into Volvos, a ABC film about WW3 in Kansas City, Kansas called "The Day After". I was four when I saw it, when Jason Rohbards survived a nuclear explosion by diving in a foot well of a Volvo wagon, that stuck with me as a little kid. Its funny that a Volvo wagon would save my life 13 years later.... Jonny
Man I remember "The Day After". I often wonder just how realistic that flick was about surviving a nuclear holocaust. The Steve Gutenburg performance was atrocious. I remember how "controversial" it was when it came put.
I have it on DVD now, watching it as an adult. This sounds sick, but the movie is laughable.....I mean, when the bomb goes off, there where people watching a movie and there was a wedding.... There was another movie done by the BBC called "Threads" in 1985. I bought it years ago on VHS, now that movie, it was disturbing. The British where more " bluntly honest" in how a nuclear might be if there was a full attack...
