    Thanks for the welcome.

Sorry to sound so mysterious. The woodie project is a 1952 Buick Roadmaster Estate Wagon, model 79R and is one of 356 built. Cross referencing both the Buick Club and The National Woodie Club, this is one of three known. Personally I tend to think the 10% rule is more likely which would leave about thirty five survivors. Still pretty slim numbers I think.
It's been a long road. A complete nut bolt and screw restoration. The frame, suspension, braking, steering, engine etc.. is complete. The wagon has the original power steering and a rare perios aftermarket Bendix power assist braking unit which I rebuilt and put back in the car. All of the metal work is complete which was substantial and it's now in primer and waiting for finish paint which will be the original color, Venesian Blue. I've just started the woodwork. I have all of the original wood which was good enough for decent templates. I'm doing the woodwork myself. I teach preservation Carpentry at the North Bennet Street School, a small private school in Boston so I have a full woodworking shop at my disposal. I'm not super pc literate but I think I uploaded a picture of the "before" shot of the day my baby was delivered to me over six years ago.
If someone could could give me some pointers on how to add pictures, I'd really appreciate it becasue I could drown you guys with the hundreds of in progress shots I've got.
Thanks for the great response and I'm looking forward to be an active part of this group of wagon fans.

Adding Pictures? Go here for info:

    Go here to start:

Now then Wood Work... I found a good Wood Frame Kit installation page here, even though you're well past that stage:
    http://www.rodandcustommagazine.com/techarticles/0802rc_wood_framing_kit/index.html

But I'm really interested in the types of wood you selected to reconstruct yours and what sealers and final finishing techniques, stains, sanding and polishing grits, etc. And finally what you'll use to care for it over the longrun.  :thumbs2:

Whoa!, lots of questions about the woodie.

The original wood is White Ash as is the 250 board feet of new replacement wood that I've had stickered in my shop for nearly a year. As soon as this coming weekend I'll be starting the glue ups.

Regarding your questions on the topic of stains, sanding, polishing grits etc.., I'll be referring to a few books that have been published on woodie woodworking and a rather good article I've saved from the Woodie Times which is published by the National Woodie Club. As I get closer to having to tackle that part of the woodwork, I'd be happy to share what I've learned.

Oh and regarding "The Rev"s" coment about the Dynaflow transmission, don't be sorry for me my friend, It's design is quite satisfactory to haul this Buick's massive weight around and it's been professionally rebuilt by a couple of italian immigrant brothers in New York who have been operating their tranny shop for nearly fifty years. They came highly recommended and several local Buick Club members who have put plenty of miles on their rebuilt Dynaflows have been very pleased with the results.
