Mentioned this in an earlier thread, but thought I'd share with pics. The windshield on my 92 Olds Custom Cruiser has no scratches or chips, but is de-laminating along the lower edge, under where the wipers park. Thankfully you can't see it from inside the car, and it's not really somthing you notice outside the car...but still...goofy.
My Roady's doing the same thing. It was one of the items that I pointed out as needing done when I was haggling on the pricing. If I recall correctly, I got $300 off the asking price partially based on that. I've yet to replace the windshield and it bugs me every time I wash the car.
Both of my Caprices are doing the same. Big Bird, that has lead a rough life has it all across the base of the windshield, and has gotten to the point of leaking on the driver's side, you can see the water bubbles trapped between the layers of plastic and glass. Top Banana, the one elderly owner, always garaged car in my avatar is doing the same, with no progression and no leak fortunately. Fortunate for me, finding a non tinted windshield seems quite difficult.
Big Bird: It may not be original to the car, but surprisingly, you could order those wagons with a tinted windscreen only, with the rest of the glass untinted. Putting in a tinted windscreen is 'factory correct', even if not factory installed. Also, even on cars that had no tinted windows ordered, the rear window was normally tinted here, since the rear defroster grid was only installed on tinted glass. There were some ODD option combinations available back then.
