That is true. We saw thousands of those hugh creatures many times when camping in Missouri and southern Illinois. That's why the giant arch was built. They planned on putting a chain and pully system on it to hoist the grasshoppers up and load them into river barges. :biglaugh:
I think this kind was called Kattydids.

    Good fishing bait....

Went to the lake a couple of days ago - frozen solid across. Come on Spring! I don't care if it comes with grasshoppers. I got hit in the chest by a big grasshopper when riding my motorcycle on the interstate - I thought it was a piece of tire it hit so hard.

When I was a kid and didn't know any better, the 'adults' smoked a bunch of oysters and some grasshoppers on a fire in the vacant lot next door.
It was dark, and they MAY have been drinking, but I was only eight, so what did I know?
Anyway, that was the first time I had ever tasted oysters, smoked or anyway.
They were delicious, so when the oysters ran out, I tried the smoked grasshoppers.
    They were good too!
    Todays lesson #1:
You shouldn't turn your nose up at something until you at least try it once.
    :D
Lesson #2: When riding a motorcycle, a helmet with a faceshield is a very good idea. (y)

Crawfish are little tiny lobsters??? I thought they were some kind of fish???

See they look to much like insects. I'm not really a fussy eater but I just can't bring myself to eat bug like vittles.

I just watched the first video, Pinebox. You sure can tell they immigrated from Eastern Canada way back when. You would think it was a cooking show from Newfoundland but the cook never once said 'By Lord Thunder'n Jesus" once:rofl2:

On a serious note, I think I could eat that!
