Poor car, survivor from when the wilder the paint & larger the fender flares where the Kooler the car. Didn't really car for the look in the late 1970's and still don't. But it is an interesting look at the car scene of the time.

Pretty trashed and weathered, I will be interested in what it bids to, currently at $4500.00 (more than what I would pay for it)

I would need to look for a Disco Van to haul it around to shows with if I was crazy enough to buy it!

Sorry the images are so small, could not seem to remember how to copy them larger

I agree, not my taste. But it is an interesting time capsule.

Still in So Cal......... The sun hasn't been kind to it. Hasn't had the benefit of a garage for a while.

Californians LOVE 3-car garages, but they collect so many 'things' that there's usually only room for ONE vehicle.....

Only thing missing is the beach ball metallic paint scheme.

    I also don't know why you would replace a 330+ HP Pontiac 400 with a 283 SBC?

Because Chevrolet stupidity. I'm betting the original engine was blown, and the owner at the time had a Chevy drivetrain in the garage corner

I just looked at it; why do the taillights look funky?

Because they're not Firebird taillights. They looks to me like '65 Thunderbird taillights, without the chrome bezel.

It is a real 400/ 4 speed car. He blew up the 400 motor and swapped a 66 Impala 283 in and that's been there ever since. The plan was to rebuild the 400 and put it back in but that never happened and that motor is long gone.

That would make sense. It was a common practice to use trim and light parts from other car lines and manufacturers back in the Sixties. The best one, was a '64 Silver Streak motorhome. The Self-Propelled Silver Twinkie. The front grille looked familiar, but I just couldn't put my finger on why it did. Until I got on the creeper and began to roll under the front end; I looked at the grille, in my prone position and realized...

...1960 Ford truck! It was installed upside-down! No wonder I couldn't place it!

Oh my gosh no. There are a ton of crispy critters in New Mexico and Arizona. Chrome is 10 here, but paints and interiors get thrashed. Agree in that I probably wouldn’t want this car even in 1978. Not a huge fan of custom cars this way.
