..or other full-size 80s wagon modified to have 2 doors instead of 4? (or 3 instead of 5, if you prefer). I know The Stickman has a very cool Cutlass Cruiser with the rear doors deleted, and I think I've seen some rare Caddy wagons from the 70s with two doors... but I've been fantasizing about what my Custom Cruiser would look like if it mated with a Delta 88 coupe.

Yes, that's what I fantasize about now. Creatively mutated station wagons.

Anyway, if such a custom Custom exists, my google-fu can't find it. I have this x-ray b/w blueprint view of the CC that I've been playing with...

I couldn't find a similar view of an 88 coupe, so just for fun I tried it with a Toronado. I know that makes no sense...totally different platforms, I might as well try and stick a CC to a Smart Fortwo, but I think the end result looks kinda awesome.

This is my attempt to draw in 88 coupe doors...

And for the hell of it, here's an Oldsmobile Custom Creature.

Don't know about the B-body wagons, but a number of people have done this with the G-body wagons. The lazy folks simply weld the back doors shut. The ones who do it right swap the doors and lock pillars from a two door. That is a LOT of work.

There is one quirk of the 77-90 Custom Cruisers that you need to be aware of. All the B-body wagons from those years use the Chevy sheetmetal from the firewall back. The Olds sedans have a feature line about 3" below the window opening that runs the length of the car. The Custom Cruisers do not have this line, because they are Chevy doors. As a result, the Custom Cruiser front fenders (which also do not have the feature line) are unique to the Olds wagons (and of course, the 1977-79 fenders are different from the 1980-90 fenders).

The bottom line is that to do this, you will need the doors from a two door Caprice, not a Delta 88.

I'm glad to know that, even if this is just a pipe dream right now. Thanks, Joe.

Wow Joe! You may have just saved Cermo, or some other brave soul, a lot of trouble! :slap:

But if someone really wanted to make a very unique Custon Cruiser Coupe, they could use all of the side sheet metal from the 88 Coupe, altering the the wagon quarter also. :smash:

Uh-oh...this gets my feverish little brain cooking!

    David :)

My version of the one that got away, or, why I love 2 door wagons.

Somewhere in the 81 - 82 era, I went to a garage sale (with my then girlfriend, later wife and mother of my kids, ex after that), and inside was a 57 or 58 fury wagon, guy said it was an ex state police car, I noticed, on my own by the way, that this was a 2 door wagon and that seemed cool and different all at the same time. Kind of like... You went to all the trouble of making a wagon who's purpose is to haul people and stuff, and then you only put two doors on it.. ...what??

Anyway, guy wanted $3500 for it. I thought he was out of his mind. I wish I had bought that car.

From nomads to vega's 2 door wagons rock. A '70 Belvedere with a built slant 6 for me.

It's been done and I'll be darned if I can find a pic of it. It is a box B-Body Caprice wagon with the b-pillar moved back and the larger 2 door dooes used.
